Let's say you were running for president on a major party ticket.  Your opponent is a particular person of your choosing.  They can be anybody - real or fictional, historical, non-political-related; literally anybody as long as we'll have heard of them.

To make it more fun, you can also pick a Veep of your choice, as well as a running mate for your opponent.

How well would you do in your match-up?  And of course, feel free to post a map as well.

Try and be imaginative and as realistic as your scenario will allow.  This should be hopefully be some fun.

Myself/Flyers2006 vs. Keystone Phil/Jake (who moves to Georgia)

Map:

I have a 263-254 lead, PA is too close to call. Very nasty situation in Philadelphia, disputed ballots, etc. Goes to court.

Jake/George Patton (R) vs. Harry/Ebowed (D)

Jake/Patton  266
Harry/Ebowed  272

Harry and Ebowed are able to make big gains in the south and Harry almost wins MS and SC.  Patton would be my first choice for a VP just to watch him debate.

DanielX/Margaret Chase Smith vs. Adlai Stevenson/John Sparkman

Election 1952

Republican: 297 51% PV
Democrat: 234 49% PV

Every southern state, plus Illinois, Minnesota, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island go Stevenson.

My nominal pro-civil-rights stance will keep me far away from Ike or Nixon's relative success at cracking the South. However, i'll be anti-communist as anything and there's a good deal of Democrat fatigue.

As for pure Fantasy:

2008:
DanielX/ColinW: 65% PV / 516 EV's
migrendel/opebo: 35% EV / 22 EV's

migrendel, while hugely extreme, is a good debator and, unlike opebo alone, can manage to win Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont. A good deal of my extra PV comes from states that already went for Bush, though - I expect some states to break 80% for me.

Of course, in reality it would look like this:
DanielX/ColinW: 40% PV / 408 EV's
migrendel/opebo: 30% PV / 53 EV's
StatesRights/Mike Naso: 30% PV / 77 EV's

The changes result in StatesRights winning the South and a good deal of Appalachia, and migrendel gaining New York from StatesRights sapping chiefly from me.

A whoremongerer who openly hates Christians - pretty much automatically excludes 80% of the population from voting for him.

OR

A ultrafar leftist who's bound to say something so stupid that he'll piss everyone with a brain off.

I'd bet the farm.

the problem is that the ercentage of the population with a brain is amazingly, and increasingly small.
They'd be to fascinated by their short term economic "solutions" that would bring heaven on earth, that would they would not pay attention to that.
Democracy, as Hoppe pointed out, is designed to only allow the scum to rise to power.

I'd continuously run commercials with that absolutely hideous drawing of his, which is supposed to be some sort of commentary on the voters - I don't think I'll have a problem.

Also, remember that you actually need a degree of intelligence to manipulate people. Wink

Me/John Ford vs BRTD/Opebo

Me/John Ford: 520

BRTD/Opebo: 18

Trust me, it might not be competative, but for me, this is the race I would yearn for.
