I'll do BC's provincial legislature:

Our last election was one of the biggest landslides in the history of the province.

Stealing my maps are we, Gabu? :-D

I'm working on the IL map by party. Here are some preliminary results.

The IL Senate has 59 members, divided into three groups for the pruposes of election. Group one serves terms of 4, 4, and 2 years, Group two serves terms of 4, 2, and 4 years. Group three serves terms of 2, 4, and 4 years.

The Democrats drew the map of districts in 2001. All Senators were up for election in 2002 with the new map.  30 of the 59 Senators ran unopposed (20 D, 10 R).  14 Senators won with 65% or more of the vote in a contested race (7 D, 7 R).  10 Senators won with 55-65% of the vote (4 D, 6 R). 4 Senators won with between 50-55% of the vote (1 D, 3 R). One independent who votes with the Democrats won with 40% of the vote.

Group 3 with 20 Senators was up for election in 2004 and three other vacancies created special Senate elections. 12 Senators were unopposed (6 D, 6 R). 6 Senators won with 65% or more in a contested election (5 D, 1 R). 3 Senators won with 55-65% of the vote (1 D, 2 R). 2 Senators won with 50-55% of the vote (1 D, 1 R), and one of those two was a switch from D to R.

Mine's number 34, a testament to the glory of Gerrymandering.  Note how it includes the prison on Riker's Island to get it up to the appropriate population size.

Erc, districts 11-14 and 16 jump out as being horribly gerrymandered.  Is it even worth all the effort? I.e. what's the Dem-Rep balance, if you know it?

The GOP holds a 35-27 majority in the NY State Senate.

Nym,  is senate district 38 democrat like the U.S. congress district?  Also the republicans did a nice job gerrymandering  the state house and senate districts too.

Agreed, they did.

Yes, the 38th has a Democratic state Senator, Mike Prusi. The central and western UP still vote strongly Democratic in local elections, even though it has drifted to the right at the Presidential level. Populist Democrats still do well here.

Why's Texas so geographically polarised between a Republican north and a Democrat south?

Actually, many of them are Mexican-Americans. For example, Starr County is 37% foreign born but 98% hispanic.
