Hillary Clinton Campaign Schedule;

January 28, 2004

GOTV in Mohall, North Dakota

GOTV in Loraine, North Dakota

GOTV in Sherwood, North Dakota

January 29, 2000

GOTV in Phoenix, Arizona (Morning)

Speech at the Arizona Heart Institute of America, Phoenix, Arizona

I'd like to welcome Senator Edwards back to the campaign trail. His convalescence drew attention to heart disease, a health issue many Americans ignore until it is too late. As President, I will appoint as Secretary of Health and Human Services and Surgeon General, individuals who can warn and remind the nation of costs both physical and emotional of heart disease, and help guide Americans into a lifestyle that can prevent it.

January 30, 2004

Speech at the Linda Hall Library, Kansas City, Missouri (With Emanuel Cleaver)

The recent ad Joe Biden aimed at Secretary Rumsfeld, completely amazed me in it's audacity. While it's true that Rumsfeld met with Saddam Hussein in the late 1980's and now has invaded his country and is trying to kill him, Senator Biden seems to forget that circumstances change. We recognized the Soviet Union in 1933 and I'm pretty sure nobody ran radio ads against Harry Truman, or anyone else caught in the Red Scare of being a supporter of Josef Stalin, which makes Biden's ad, all the more ludicrous.

GOTV in Kansas City, Missouri (With Emanuel Cleaver)

January 31, 2004

GOTV in St. Louis Missouri (All Day, With William Lacy Clay)

February 1, 2004

GOTV in Charleston South Carolina, (All Day, With Jim Hodges)

February 2, 2004

GOTV in Goose Creek, South Carolina

GOTV in Monck's Corner, South Carolina

Speech in Hanahan, South Carolina

We're just two back of Edwards people! We have the momentum. We have the political talent, and we have the positions to win here, in Missouri, in North Dakota, in Arizona, in Oklahoma, in New Mexico. We even have the ability to win in Delaware if Senator Biden wasn't running.

February 3, 2004

GOTV in Columbia, South Carolina (All Morning)

Gary Johnson TV and Radio Ad:
Ad to run in following states:

Experience. Conviction. Integrity. Track-Record. Do you want someone with no executive experience? Or someone who knows what is like to take on the tough issues in a divided congress? Ready for real experience and change? Want someone who is willing to take on the establishment? Ready for a credible candidate? Well then you're ready for Gary Johnson, two-term governor, who balanced the budget every year with a divided congress. The conviction to stand up for his principles. Gary Johnson is the candidate to lead.

Joe Biden Campaign Schedule: Jan 28th-Feb. 3rd

Jan. 28th
Barnstorming in Las Cruces, New Mexico
Fundraiser in Albuquerque, New Mexico
Meet Voters in Claremore, Oklahoma
Rally with Mark Warner in Ada, Oklahoma

I saw Secretary Rumsfeld's response on TV a while ago, and I must say, I'd like a counter response, first off, he said I was running for President and Plagiarizing, but does he not realise that he met with Hussein in 1983, while the Plagiarism incident happened in 1988, so there's a date error first. Then he claimed that I voted against the South Vietnam aid package, which is true, but only because the country was doomed at that point and even more death and destruction would happen  if we continued the war, it shows that apparently a longer war, heck, maybe continuing to the '80s, is what Secretary Rumsfeld wants. Also, he said I supported the Shah's fall in Iran, which is so unbelievably false I'm going to move on to a true thing, that I opposed to both the Gulf War and Reagen's defense build up, I did, they were pointless and essentially pork spending, I mean, did you look at Star Wars? It was a bloated mess, like almost everything in defense Reagen promoted. All in all, Rumsfeld forgets that he was the one who shook hands and appeared in several photos with a man who's head he is now calling for and whose country he has invaded. And he calls me the hypocrite.

Rally with Mark Warner and Jay Rockefeller in Guthrie, Oklahoma

We have seen over the past few years, the guys on Wall Street are leeching off us, and we do need tighter banking restrictions, like Glass Steagall, which was ground breaking for its time. Now, we are seeing more and more loosening of Regulations, with the repeal of Glass Steagall, which was a terrible decision, we are on the edge of a recession, and ladies and gentlemen, we cannot just let the guys in the Banks just do whatever they want, I mean, it's common sense.

Feb 2nd
Barnstorming in Bisbee, Arizona
Fundraiser with Maria Cantwell in Aztec, New Mexico
Town Hall in Kansas City, Missouri
Meet and Greet in Charleston South Carolina

Feb 3rd
Town Hall with Jerry Brown in Bismarck, North Dakota
Barnstorming in Clinton, Missouri
Fundraiser with all Surrogates in Union, Missouri
Meet and Greet in Charleston, South Carolina
Attend Party in Wilmington, Delaware

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bidendorsements:
Olympia Snowe;
After I saw my colleague Arlen Specter endorse Joe Biden a while ago, I wondered why, but after meeting him and discussing policies with him, we need this guy in the White House, I may be a Republican, but I think I must transcend Party lines so that we can judge, not based on whatever Party a person is part of, but whether they can serve their country, and I can safely say that Joe Biden will serve our country well.
Jerry Brown:
As Governor of California, we experienced some great growth compared to the nation at large, and I do know a guy who will do the same nationwide, now while we disagree on certain issues, mainly fiscal, I know for a fact that he will restore our countries' prestige tenfold, that man is Delaware Senator Joe Biden!
*After this round closes, instead of doing proportional delegates it will be winner takes all; as it is easier for calculation.
Bill Owens to leave Presidential race, Endorse Allen
"There is no path forward for me in this race, but we ran a great campaign while we could. We brought forward ideals of fiscal and social conservatism, embracing a compassionate path forward. This campaign was one of principle, and I believe any man running for President must be a man of principle. Of the candidates left on the field, George Allen has stood up for conservative values again and again, and has been the most persuasive and substantive man on the field. I believe Republicans can win because our ideas are better, and he is a man of ideas. He will protect our national defense and intelligence from cuts from our Democratic party, and most importantly, he will listen to the people of this country and hear them out. I appreciated having the opportunity to run, but my time is over, and it's back to Colorado I go!"
TV/Radio Ad: For The People
Hi, I'm Dennis Kucinich. I'm running for President to change how Washington works. The people of this country have been ignored for too long. The people want to see us out of Iraq, have better schools, increase the minimum wage, and protect Social Security. As President, I'll fight for your best interests every step of the way. There's a lot of talk these days, but now it's time for action. I'm Dennis Kucinich, and I approve this message because it's time that we have a President for the people.
John Edwards for President Schedule - January 28th - February 3rd
"Those of us on the campaign aren't happy with the latest tracking polls, but we're not disappointed. This was to be expected, after I had to take a couple weeks off the trail to take care of my health. But my problems have been fixed - we're back in this race. We won't get discouraged by poll results - our message of economic health was resonating with ordinary Americans, and it will continue to resonate once we pull off a big win on Super Tuesday."
January 28th, 2004:
Meet and greet in New Castle, Delaware with Al Gore and Bob Graham
Townhall in Newark, Delaware with Al Gore and Bob Graham
Rally in Dover, Delaware with Al Gore and Bob Graham
"A bunch of commentators are saying I'm crazy for stopping here - John Edwards just got out of the hospital and he's spending his energies campaigning in Delaware! Why on earth would he stop in Delaware?!? Well, it's simple. Because that's always been what this campaign is about. It's never mattered to us what the polls are saying, or what would be the smart move according to some commentators on TV - what matters to us is taking our anti-poverty message across the country, including to people in Delaware. I don't think we can beat Mr. Biden here tomorrow, but we can certainly give him a surprise."
January 29th, 2004:
Meet and greet in Tahlequah, Oklahoma with Rep. Brad Carson
Town hall in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Secretary of State Susan Savage
Town hall in Stillwater, Oklahoma with Governor Brad Henry
Meet and greet in Edmond, Oklahoma with Governor Brad Henry
Meet and greet in Bethany, Oklahoma with Governor Brad Henry
January 30th, 2004:
Meet and greet in Weatherford, Oklahoma with Governor Brad Henry
Rally in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with Governor Brad Henry
Town hall in Norman, Oklahoma with Governor Brad Henry
Meet and greet in Ada, Oklahoma with Governor Brad Henry
Meet and greet in Durant, Oklahoma with Rep. Brad Carson
It is good to be back in Oklahoma! Good to be here with my friends - Governor Henry's here, he's been on the trail for us for a while, and we've also got Representative Carson and Secretary of State Savage - all these leaders in the Oklahoma Democratic community support my campaign. Why? Because they know about my support of rural communities. They knew I grew up in a working-class family, and they know that as President they'll get someone in the White House who'll be a fighter for Oklahoma. When we're building One America - we won't forget Oklahoma!
January 31st, 2004:
Town hall in Rock Hill, SC with Rep. John Spratt
Town hall in Spartanburg, SC with Sen. Fritz Hollings
Meet and greet in Central, SC with Sen. Fritz Hollings
Rally in Clemson, SC with Sen. Fritz Hollings
It's good to be back home. I'm John Edwards, and I was born right here in South Carolina. This was my first home. The folks I grew up with--they weren't famous and they sure weren't rich, but they worked long and hard to give their kids a better life. As President, I'll work hard to protect our jobs, make health care affordable, and open the doors of opportunity to everyone. As the first in my family to go to college, I know that our system of public education should be our sturdiest ladder of opportunity - those of y'all here in college mean a lot. College has never been more important. That's why I've put forward a plan to make college more affordable for millions of Americans. Rest assured, college affordability - and making sure you have a job afterwards - will be a top priority of the Edwards Administration.
February 1st, 2004:
Rally in Columbia, SC with Sen. Fritz Hollings
Town hall in Orangeburg, SC with Sen. Fritz Hollings
Rally in Charleston, SC with Mayor Joseph P. Riley and Sen. Fritz Hollings
Meet and greet in St. Charles, MO with Rep. Dick Gephardt
Rally in St. Louis, MO with Rep. Dick Gephardt
February 2nd, 2004:
Meet and greet in Cape Girardeau, MO
Town hall in Rolla, MO
Meet and greet in Springfield, MO
Meet and greet in Bolivar, MO
Meet and greet in Fulton, MO
Rally in Columbia, MO with Gephardt, Graham and Gore
February 3rd, 2004:
Meet and greet in Kirksville, MO
Meet and greet in Maryville, MO
Town hall in Parkville, MO
Rally in Kansas City, MO with Rep. Dick Gephardt, Senator Bob Graham, and Vice President Al Gore
We haven't gotten any returns yet, but we know from the polling that this race will be close - in fact, this is the closest race out of all of them, with us in a virtual polling tie heading into today. Whatever happens, though, I'm confident we'll pull out a win here.
New Ad: The Mill
To run in SC, MO, and OK
Voiceover: I’m John Edwards and I approve this message.
I’m not running for president because I read something in a book.
I’m not running for president because some political consultant told me what I’m supposed to say.
I’m running for president because of 54 years of my life, I have believed to my soul that the men and women who worked in that mill with my father were worth every bit as much as the man that owned that mill. This is about opposing NAFTA and other trade deals that send American jobs overseas, not taking a dime of campaign money from Washington lobbyists, banning Washington lobbyists from the White House staff - and winning the White House in November. That's our path to rebuilding the middle class. That's more important than politics. And I'm the only candidate who's willing to do that.
Dennis Kucinich: 20% (10)
Other: 1%
Hillary Clinton: 110
Joe Biden: 87
Dennis Kucinich: 79
John Edwards: 75
The Mini-Super Tuesday was a draw between the candidates. Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden each took three and two (respectively) of the seven states, with Dennis Kucinich pulling a surprise win in North Dakota, by winning the state and John Edwards narrowly taking South Carolina. Clinton walked away with a large chunk of delegates but Biden has momentum, especially after winning an upset in New Mexico, a state in which was leaning Clinton's way and by finishing a strong second in a few states. Kucinich is also a factor in the race; his surprise win gives his campaign the needed boost to carry on into the next set of contests on February 7th. (Michigan and Washington caucuses).
Both Biden's upsets in New Mexico Kucinch's surprise win can be attributed to his campaign's hard work to turnout their voters, the strong push in the final days.
John Edwards, who is back on the campaign, after a brief stint in the hospital appears to be feeling the affects of his absence. A once favorite in South Carolina, he finished first, but narrowly, with Clinton's surprise and strong second place finish taking the headlines. It remains to be seen whether or not he can recover and get his campaign back into the position he was in before Iowa.
Most pundits handicap this as a race between Clinton and Biden heading into the next set of contests, with Kucinich with playing a dark horse. As for Edwards it is too early to tell.
Michigan Caucuses: February 7th
Hillary Clinton: 26%
Joe Biden: 24%
Dennis Kucinich: 24%
John Edwards: 15%
Undecided: 12%
Washington Caucuses: February 7th
Dennis Kucinich: 25%
Hillary Clinton: 25%
Joe Biden: 23%
John Edwards: 16%
Undecided: 11%
Round: IX February 4-7, 2004
Republicans
Mini Super Tuesday: February 3, 2004
Republicans:
Arizona: Rudy Giuliani
√ Rudy Giuliani: 30% (18)
Gary Johnson: 27% (15)
George Allen: 21% (11)
Doanld Rumsfeld: 21% (11)
Other: 1%
Delaware: Rudy Giuliani
√ Rudy Giuliani: 38% (11)
Donald Rumsfeld: 24% (3)
George: Allen: 22% (1)
Gary Johnson: 15%
Other: 1%
Missouri: George Allen
√ George Allen: 35% (39)
Donald Rumsfeld: 29% (20)
Rudy Giuliani: 20% (15)
Gary Johnson: 15%
Other: 1%
New Mexico: Gary Johnson
√ Gary Johnson: 68% (26)
Rudy Giuliani: 12%
George Allen: 11%
Donald Rumsfeld: 8%
Other: 1%
North Dakota: Rudy Giuliani
√ Rudy Giuliani: 35% (7)
George Allen: 29% (4)
Donald Rumsfeld: 18% (2)
Gary Johnson: 17% (1)
Other: 1%
Oklahoma: George Allen
√George Allen: 42% (33)
Donald Rumsfeld: 22% (4)
Rudy Giuliani: 20% (3)
Gary Johnson: 15%
Other: 1%
South Carolina: George Allen
George Allen: 32% (23)
Rudy Giuliani: 31% (22)
Donald Rumsfeld: 22%
Gary Johnson: 14%
Other: 1%
George Allen: 128
Rudy Giuliani: 86
Donald Rumsfeld: 61
Gary Johnson: 50/color]
The Mini-Super Tuesday contests saw George Allen and Rudy Giuliani come up the big winners. Both men won three contests and a bunch of delegates. Allen's organization made the difference in Oklahoma and Missouri, while Giuliani's came up a strong second in South Carolina, a state which a few days earlier gave Allen a two to three point lead. Both men are seen as the top candidates heading into the next contests.
Rudy Giuliani is certainly establishing himself as the establishment candidate, especially given his more moderate stances, while George Allen will strive for the conservative vote. However, both men are impressive fundraisers and would be formidable general election candidates.
Gary Johnson won his home state of New Mexico and all the delegates at stake and performed well in Arizona and North Dakota. He is still a competitive force in the way between Giuliani and Allen. Donald Rumsfeld came up short Tuesday night. He failed to win a single state, but did collect delegates and now is in third in the overall count. Rumsfeld, who finished a strong second in New Hampshire and Iowa was a favorite to score a win in at least one contest, but came up a little short. His campaign is by now means finished, but it is difficult to see him regaining his momentum.
Michigan Caucuses: February 7th
Rudy Giuliani: 31%
George Allen: 25%
Donald Rumsfeld: 17%
Gary Johnson: 15%
Undecided: 12%
Washington Caucuses: February 7th
George Allen: 25%
Rudy Giuliani: 25%
Gary Johnson: 25%
Donald Rumsfeld: 16%
Undecided: 9%
This Round will Close on Wednesday at 12:01 AM EST
George Allen Victory Speech in South Carolina
"We are winning primaries across America, and we will continue to talk to voters and give true conservatism a voice in this primary. No Republican has ever gone to win the nomination without the state of South Carolina, and we have won the state of South Carolina! Also, a special thanks to the voters of Missouri and Oklahoma, for giving us decisive victories in their states. This campaign has more promise today than when we started, and we will continue to deliver our hopeful message for the future of America all across the country! Terror will not hold this nation down!"
They said we would never do it. But we proved them wrong, folks: we won in North Dakota! I thank the good people of North Dakota for voting with their hearts for a true progressive path for this country. With a victory in North Dakota and very strong showings all across the country, we have the momentum to go in Michigan, Washington, and beyond! I'll see you all there!
OOC: I doubt anyone is actually interested in Rumsfeld's endorsement, but in case in wrong, and staying true to Rummy's machiavellian attitude, I will accept offers...
Former Defense Secretary Rumsfeld suspends campaign, endorsement to come after Michigan Primary:
"We fought hard but in the end, we came up short. The American people have spoken, and even if we had a great result in the early primaries and managed to get over 60 delegates to our cause, I am a man who can recognize when to stop. I started this campaign to defend the Bush legacy, and I am proud to have fought for that man as Secretary of Defense and Presidential candidate, just as I am proud to have served America as a public servant since the 1960's. I know many of you would prefer to see me fighting all the way to the convention, but it has become increasingly clear the nominee will be either Senator Allen or Major Giuliani. What now follows is obvious: I am hereby suspending my candidacy for President of the United States.
Of course, it doesn't quite end here, so I will ask for my pledged delegates to be patient. You see, I will not endorse a candidate yet, not until the results of the Michigan Primary are released. Suffice to say, the upcoming debate will be key in my decision to endorse any of the frontrunners. (Smiles) Oh, and just for the sake of it, I will accept formal or write-in votes in Michigan, just in the case you may not feel close enough to the remaining candidates. Once again, America, thank you for letting me make my case, and thank you for all the support you have given to me since I started this adventure back in September. See you in a few days"
Cox Business Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma
No matter how anyone wants to spin tonight's results, winning the most states out of all the Democrats remaining, and earning the most delegates of all the Democrats remaining, is not just a Pyrrhic victory, or a moral victory, but a true victory. I've Congratulated Senator Biden on his win in New Mexico, and Representative Kucinich on his victory in North Dakota. Next up it's Michigan and Washington, and I've got a good feeling about both States.
Hillary Clinton Debate answers
As President I will instruct General John Abazid and Lt. General David McKiernan the people currently responsible for our military  in Iraq to do one of two things; Bring in enough troops to actually deal with the building sectarian violence against the forces currently there, or develop a plan for a safe, efficient withdrawal of our troops already there.
Healthcare Reform is something that I'm just not sure Republican Party, or Business interests in this country really want. When I tried to shepherd a Health Care Reform bill through Congress in the early 1990's, the Republicans, and even some Democrats, would move the goalposts further and further back. Also, why would anyone assume either house of Congress (let alone both) will have a Republican majority, this far out from election day?
My Colleague, My good friend from New York, is on the road to victory, and we're going get her there! Now, I know she may not have the puritanical ideals that some of you... Medea Benjamin, Jodie Evans, Joan Blades, we're talking about you... want, but no one lives in a utopia, and Hillary can win in November, especially in an open seat.
Speech at the Bangor Auditorium, Bangor, Maine
When Senator Jeffords left the Republican Party he voted with us a bit more... When Senator Jeffords endorsed Senator Clinton, for President, he said on the Senate floor that if he ran for re-election again, it would be a a Democrat. Since Senator Snowe and Specter have endorsed Senator Biden, and given this polarized political climate, is it fair to presume they are at least interested in switching parties?
Rudy Giuliani Victory Speech from Arizona
"Thank you Arizona, North Dakota, and Delaware! Now that we've won 4 primaries and a whole slew of delegates it is clear that the American people are ready to get to work. The American people are ready to bring functionality and bipartisanship to Washington. The American people are ready for a Giuliani Presidency! Let's bring this momentum into Michigan and Washington and then to the Convention and on to Washington!"
Giuliani Debate Responses
To all the candidates: Do you describe yourself as a conservative first or a Republican?
I am a Republican, that is the party I am a member of and I am proud of it. I have never called myself a conservative, because I'm not. It is important that we, as a party, put an end to the infighting between these arbitrary ideological divisions and focus on spreading the broader message of the party. Lower taxes, greater civil liberties, strength abroad, safety at home. These are the ideals that the party was built on and that we need to get back to.
Mr. Mayor, do you believe the Bush Tax Cuts goes far enough and what would you do to jump start the economy?
I stand by President Bush and his tax cut. But we must expand them to cut taxes for all Americans, not just high earners. I cut taxes 23 times as Mayor of New York and the city prospered under my leadership. As President I will push for tax cuts for all Americans, from all tax brackets, and a simplification of the tax system. I want people to be able to file their tax using only one, single-page form. I want people to be able to keep more of their income, so that they can buy things and spur the economy. I want inheritance to pass from one to another without heavy taxes being imposed.
Statement on the results
Obviously, we’re not thrilled with the results, but we’re undaunted. We did very well in Missouri especially, and of course we won in my home state, in South Carolina. We are by no means out of this race, and I’m certain that we can recover. We’ve gotten some strong support from Tennessee and Virginia, which of course are two states that will be voting within the week, and we expect we can show an excellent rebound performance.
John Edwards Debate Responses
As President I will conduct an immediate drawdown of 40,000 to 50,000 combat troops. I will also ask Congress for new authority to manage the withdrawal of the U.S. military presence and help Iraq achieve stability, since the 2002 authorization didn’t give President Bush the power to use U.S. troops to police a civil war. I believe a reasonable course of action here is to completely withdraw all combat troops in nine to ten months, get our troops and bases out, but retain sufficient forces in friendly countries like Kuwait to quickly respond to prevent genocide or the creation of a safe haven for al-Qaida, and to prevent any regional spillover of the civil war. Beyond that, we should be focusing on training Iraqi security forces, and engaging in direct talks with regional neighbors to bring in a political solution to the sectarian violence, perhaps through a peace conference. Those are the sort of concrete solutions the country can expect from the Edwards Administration.
First of all, thank you for your concern. I’d like to take this opportunity to lay to rest all the rumors and concerns about my health. After I had given an appearance and was going to the Des Moines airport, I started having chest pains, dizziness, shortness of breath, and I was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Doctors there discovered that I had a heart rhythm problem, atrial fibrillation - the electrical impulses in my heart that coordinate my heartbeat weren’t working properly and were causing my heart to beat too fast. My doctors and I reached the decision that it would be best for me to undergo what’s called a maze procedure, an extremely effective procedure that involves making a series of scars in the heart to form boundaries that force the electrical impulses to travel properly and restore a normal heartbeat. So to answer your question, about whether I have any doubt about my ability to function and execute the office, no. This procedure is the gold standard in effectively curing an irregular heartbeat, and my doctors expect that I will not have any more health concerns linked to an irregular heartbeat. If elected, I will be fully able to execute the office.
