Vladimir Zhirinovsky wrote to the Polish Government to officially offer a joint partition of Ukraine, with Poland taking Lvov, Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil and Rivne Oblasts.

Obviously, Russia would get the entire East and South, while Hungary and Romania would have to be satisfied with some scraps (Zakarpatia and Chernivtsi Oblasts respectively).

It's hard not to be touched with such a generous offer. I must say I feel kind of dumb. I had no idea Mr. Zhirinovsky exercises such influence to propose this historic swap, but we learn something new every day Smiley

Given the three partitions of Poland, three partions of Ukraine between Poland and Russia finishing with the annihilation of Ukraine would be quite ironic.

It would be really weird for Poland to be on the winning side of a partition... Tongue

I hope the Polish government has already reacted by putting Zhirinovsky on the visa ban list?

What is the point of leaving a rump ukraine based around kiev? Might as well go all or nothing.

To leave something for a second and third partition.

I wish he'd offer us an access to the Black Sea.

Well, we kind of partioned Czechoslovakia together with Mr. Hitler, but I wouldn't call it a "winning" Tongue

Look, you're getting Lwów, Wołyń, Tarnopol and Stanisławów in exchange for the deal where Gerhard Schroeder gets Kattowitz, Breslau, Thorn, Posen and Danzig. What more do you want?

No Budjak for Romania? If this was actually happening I'd think they'd go for that and Moldova while letting Russia have the Trans-Dniester. The return of Great Romania!
