Immigration-Sharply decrease the number immigration. They are taking our jobs and living off our tax payers.

Oh my goodness. That's something I'd only expect to come from jake or Carl Hayden's mouth.  "They" take "our" jobs.  What the hell?  Immigrants are Americans as well.  Most pay taxes while a lot of natural born Americans do not.  It is restrictions on immigration that leads to illegal immigration where these immigrants don't pay texas and are forced to hide to avoid deportation.  If we allowed more people to come in legally we could keep better track of them.

Overall: Paleo-Conservative

Social Issues

General philosophy: Conservative

Abortion: Strongly oppose - life begins at conception.

Separation of Church and State: (Besides the fact this does not appear in the Constitution.) Religious symbols are ok, but one religion should not be favored over another.

Marriage: Marraige should be left to the churches, not the government.

Affirmative Action: Oppose.

Gun Control: Anyone who owns a gun should make sure they are in control of it.

Death Penalty: Overused, but appropriate in some circumstances. Person should not spend more than 10 years on death row.

Censorship: Job of the parents, not government, though certain content should contain a warning.

Flag burning: Should not be illegal, but won't feel sorry if something bad happens to someone who does burn the flag.

Smoking: Should be legal on private property.

Alcohol consumption: Lower to 18.

Euthanasia: Oppose.

Drugs: Unsure.

Gambling: Lower to 18.

Prostitution: Oppose.

Embryonic Stem Cell Research: Oppose.

Adult Stem Cell Research: Favor, but should not be government funded.

Immigration: Borders should be secured. Not sure what to do with the II's that are already here. Don't know who they are, where they are, or how many they are. The legal process for obtaining a green card and citizenship should be easier.

USA PATRIOT Act: Oppose for U.S. Citizens.

Selective Service & Draft: Should be eliminated; unConstitutional.

Economic Issues

General Philosophy: Conservative.

Taxes: Income tax should be lowered. Support sin-tax and "entertainment tax". Would support corporate taxes, but it would be ineffective - cost would be passed on to customers.

Spending: Lowered. Many services provided by the federal government would be more efficient if provided by state and local governments.

Unions: Workers should be allowed to organize, but should not be granted any special rights.

Free trade: Oppose Bush Quasi Free Trade. Mixed on Real Free Trade. We should purchase from where they are the cheapest, but the trade deficit is not good for the country.

Social Security: Make optional and phase out over time; make sure anyone who paid into system is given back what they put in.

Workers' Rights: Workers should have rights.

Space Program: Support

Welfare: Limited support at State level.

Healthcare: Oppose socialized healthcare, but accept the fact that some people can not pay for it themself, so state should provide healthcare if necessary. Frivilous lawsuits are partially responsible for increase in costs.

Education: Should be funded by state and local governments.

Copyrights & Patents: Should harder to get something approved or sue for infringement. DMCA should be repealed.

Foreign Issues

General Philosophy: Realist

Democracy and Trade: Trade should benefit the U.S., but the trade deficit is hurting the country.

United Nations: U.S. should withdraw and they should find a new home.

WTO, NAFTA, CAFTA, WIPO, FTAA, GATT: U.S. should withdraw from these organizations and any other that threatens American Sovereignty.

Iraq: Shouldn't have gone in the first place, but now that we are there, we need to finish the job. Should have finished the job in Afghanistan before even considering going into Iraq.

Social Issues

General philosophy: Hates Jesus

Abortion: I support the continued availability of these services, including so-called "partial-birth" abortion.

Separation of Church and State: Strongly support. Pray in church if you must, but don't shove your beliefs on others via the government.

Marriage: I support same-sex marriage. I wouldn't have a problem with government getting out of "marriage" and granting everyone civil unions, either.

Affirmative Action: Support class-based AA for college admissions.

Gun Control: Oppose, with obvious exceptions (RPGs, etc.).

Death Penalty: Oppose; there are too many innocent people on death row for me to comfortably support state-sponsored murder.

Censorship: No restrictions on radio or television content. It would also be nice if the MPAA and ESRB would fade away (I'm aware that these aren't government agencies).

Flag burning: Don't ban it, especially not with a constitutional amendment. Doesn't Congress have more important things to do?

Hate crimes: Oppose.

Hate speech: Oppose censorship.

Smoking: Don't ban public smoking, as disgusting as it is.

Alcohol consumption: Lower drinking age to 18.

Euthanasia: Keep it legal; if a person wants to take their own life, it's their business.

Drugs: Legalize everything, regulate, and tax.

Gambling: Legalize everywhere.

Prostitution: Legalize everywhere.

Embryonic Stem Cell Research: Strongly, strongly support.

Immigration: Make future immigration easier; grant amnesty to undocumented workers currently in the US.

Economic Issues

General Philosophy: Communist!!!1

Taxes: Tax the hell out of the top 1 percent. Also oppose regressive sales taxes.

Unions: Strongly support the right to unionize.

Free trade: Oppose NAFTA.

Spending: Oppose corporate subsidies, cut military spending, increase social spending and foreign aid.

Social Security: Keep as is.

Workers' Rights: Workplace safety rules = good.

Space Program: Support (knowledge- even impractical knowledge- is always valuable), but I oppose the ridiculously expensive manned Mars landing that our President has proposed.

Welfare: Increase spending.

Healthcare: Support universal healthcare.

Education: Oppose vouchers, increase spending on public ed, make it easier for the poor to attend college.

Foreign Issues

General Philosophy: Blame America first

Democracy and Trade: Good things. Tongue

Anti (fill in the blank) Treaty: The fewer weapons humans can use to slaughter each other with, the better.

United Nations: Strongly support.

Iraq: Disastrous illegal war; withdraw all US troops by the end of 2007.

Israel: Cut off all military aid; work toward closer relationships with the Arab states.

Separation of church and state: keep your messiah out of my government.

Freedom of speech: Support.

Right to an abortion: On demand at anytime until the third trimester for any reason.

Affirmative action: couldn't care less, if i'm the best one for a job i'll get it.

Gun rights: Anyone should be allowed to own a gun without restrictions.

Civil unions or gay marriage: If two people are in love what does it really hurt to let them be married?

Euthanasia: Anyone should have the right to end their life at any time.

Prostitution: Should always be illegal.

Capital punishment: total B.S.

Economic Issues

Employers and Employees: All employees should have the right to strike for better conditions without the threat of being fired.

Taxation: Tax the rich more

Spending: We need to spend a helluva lot less on the military and more on helping people get out of poverty.

Free trade: oppose
Funding of the space program: Waste of money until we come up with a better and faster way to get anywhere interesting.

Foreign policy

Iraq: The right war at the wrong time and the wrong place.

Social Issues

General philosophy: I don't know what to call it

Abortion: I support the legality of first-trimester abortions and illegality thereafter

Separation of Church and State: Should be extended to every individual state

Marriage: Support equal economic benefits for heterosexual and homosexual couples.

Affirmative Action: Oppose.  I don't want black people taking my jobs.

Gun Control: Support more than anyone on this forum in all likelyhood.  The second amendment should be repealed.

Death Penalty: Oppose in all circumstances.  But I don't like the "save Tookie" bullsh**t that goes on either.  He's not worth our time.

Censorship: No restrictions necessarily, but a governmental department should place a rating on every TV show, movie, and video game to allow parents to decide what to let their kids watch.

Flag burning: Sounds like fun.

Hate crimes: Oppose hate crime legislation

Hate speech: Oppose hate speech legislation

Smoking: I hate tobacco companies, so it's appealing to ban smoking, but it doesn't hurt sales so forget it.  Let property owners decide what they'd like to do inside their own property.

Alcohol consumption: Lowering drinking age to 18 is a decent start.  A 21 year old drinking age is idiotic and repressive.

Euthanasia: Technically illegal, but a slap on the wrist penalty for doctors who perform.  $75 fine.

Drugs: Lessen penalties on hard drug possession.  There should be no such thing as jail time for possession.

Gambling: Legalize everywhere with no gambling age.

Prostitution: The prostitution industry should be nationalized.  The government can make money through running brothels.

Embryonic Stem Cell Research: Support government funding

Immigration: Amnesty for illegal immigrants.  Build a fence if that makes you feel so much better, but have private corporations build it since they're so wonderful.

Economic Issues

General Philosophy: 21st century socialism

Taxes: Raise top income tax bracket to 50% and incrementally increase after that until you get to the bottom 30%.

Unions: Union workers should be protected from being fired during strikes.  Right to work laws should be repealed.

Free trade: Oppose free trade.

Spending: Cut military spending and corporate welfare.  Add government programs that aid the poor.

Social Security: Wonderful program

Workers' Rights: Essential defense from exploitation

Space Program: Slash it

Welfare: Maintain current level of spending

Healthcare: Support universal, single payer healthcare.

Education: Oppose vouchers, increase public education spending

Foreign Issues

General Philosophy: Interventionist isolationism

Democracy and Trade: Democracy is incompatible with Islam and efforts to expand democracy to the middle east should be ended.

Anti (fill in the blank) Treaty: Like SALT?  Don't care, although the USA got shafted on the salts.

United Nations: Support it's existance.

Iraq: Cut and run by end of 2006

Israel: Not a big fan.  I give them their best wishes in their fight with Hezbollah and Hamas and so on.  They've been fighting for 1000+ years, it isn't going to end now.

Social Issues

general philosophy: Hard to pin down, but I guess overall, I lean liberal.

Abortion: Strongly oppose in all circumstances with the usual exceptions.

Separation of Church and State: Strongly support.

Marriage: Support homosexual marriage, although I oppose homosexual adoption.

Affirmative Action: Oppose.

Gun Control: Strongly Support. The 2nd amendment sucks. Support the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Death Penalty: Oppose in all circumstances.

Censorship: Strongly oppose any censorship of the entertainment mediums. Let the viewers decide what's inappropriate and what's not.

Flag burning: Don't care.

Hate crimes: Oppose hate crime legislation

Hate speech: Oppose hate speech legislation

Smoking: Support public smoking bans.

Alcohol consumption: Don't care. Just because the drinking age is 21 doesn't mean that underage drinking isn't prevalent. It's impossible to enforce anyway.

Euthanasia: Should be illegal.

Drugs: Support decriminalization of marijuana and lessen penalities on drug posession. However, I support the War on Drugs when it comes to fighting drug traffickers and hard drugs. Nevertheless, I feel as if the War on Drugs has been mismanaged since the 1970s, and in its present form, is unwinnable.

Gambling: Should be left up to local areas.

Prostitution: Strongly support its legalization, with government regulation.

Embryonic Stem Cell Research: Strongly support with government funding.

Immigration: Not very knowledgeable about this issue. I support amnesty for illegal immigrants, but we need to do something about the border. What to do, alas, is the question.

Economic Issues

General Philosophy: Moderate

Taxes: Support maintaining current tax levels for the upper brackets, while lowering taxes for the middle and lower classes.

Unions: Eh, mixed opinions. In some cases, they're good, but in other cases, they're awful.

Free trade: Generally support. Support NAFTA.

Spending: I believe in fiscal responsibility (i.e. not the current administration's viewpoint). Maintain defense spending levels, but scratch any missile defense program or any programs designed to deal with Cold War threats. Oppose "great society" type programs to help the poor, in general, although there should be some welfare.

Social Security: Oppose privitization.

Workers' Rights: Support, to a point.

Space Program: Strongly support.

Welfare: Fine as it is currently.

Healthcare: Support universal healthcare (single-payer).

Education: increase spending, oppose vouchers.

Foreign Issues

General Philosophy: Interventionist/Hawk.

Democracy and Trade: Don't link human rights to China. It isn't economically viable and we can't do anything about it.

Anti (fill in the blank) Treaty: Strongly support disarmament of all nuclear weapons and efforts to stop nuclear proliferation.

United Nations: Strongly support, although it needs to be far more efficient. Nevertheless, I am a major proponent of mutli-lateralism and support working with NATO in all of our large military operations. In fact, I wouldn't engage in any large military action without support from the UK, France, and Germany.

Iraq: Eh, not much we can do but wait for the Iraqis to get strong enough to take over their own nation. Thank you Mr. President for getting us into this inescapable quagmire!

Israel: Tough one. Hezbolllah is a terrorist group, no doubt about it, but Israel's conduct during the Lebanese conflict has been awful. I guess I'd express scorn over the present conflict, but alas, I'd still support Israel. But most importantly, I'd work towards compromise and peace in the Middle east.

Iraq: Need to ensure that their military and police are fully trained and ready to protect their country. When they can do that, then redeploy.

Social Issues

General philosophy: Liberal?

Abortion: First 1-2 trimesters legal; try to make it rare without limiting choice.

Separation of Church and State: A good thing; a nativity scene in front of a library is just fine.

Marriage: Support gay marriage; state-issue, and preference for legislatures figuring it out instead of courts.

Affirmative Action: Support to an extent (i.e. Bill Clinton).

Gun Control: State issue, although AKs should be illegal again.

Death Penalty: Oppose in all circumstances.

Hate crimes: Oppose hate crime legislation

Smoking: Shouldn't be taxed any more than it already is.

Alcohol consumption: A bad idea, but don't change policy towards it.

Euthanasia: Legal, but I don't particularly care either way.

Drugs: Legalize/De-criminalize marijuana and don't spend so much on finding drugs (it just lowers supply, drives up the price, and then encourages people to make 'em).

Gambling: A bad idea, but don't change policy towards it.

Prostitution: Keep illegal. I mean seriously--ew.

Embryonic Stem Cell Research: Support government funding.

Immigration: Try and keep illegal immigration down; guest worker programs sound OK (we wouldn't want to deport them all since they do jobs no one else wants to do, but we shouldn't open up our borders either).

Economic Issues

General Philosophy: Liberal?

Taxes: Close loopholes. Consider making it more progressive, but not by much.

Unions: Dunno.

Free trade: Support free trade.

Spending: Cut corporate welfare other pork. Reduce military funding for fighter jets which become "obsolete" after a couple of years and spend more on protecting soldiers (body/tank armor, etc.).

Social Security: Change indexing from wage to cost-of-living, lift 90k ceiling, increase retirement age to 67.

Workers' Rights: Huh?

Space Program: Don't particularly care.

Welfare: Maintain current level of spending.

Healthcare: Require anyone who can pay for health insurance to do so, subsidize it for everyone else.

Education: Increase funding. Not a big fan of vouchers, but I could be potentially open to some.

Foreign Issues

General Philosophy: ?

Democracy and Trade: Huh?

Anti (fill in the blank) Treaty: Huh?

United Nations: Good.

Iraq: Have most of our troops out of the country within 6 months.

Israel: End military aid, if not because they don't need it, because they too often have disproportionate/indiscriminate military actions.

Yeah, I don't think a lot of progress is being made there.

Other stuff.

Unions: Support em. They're needed to balance the playing field.

Immigration: I haven't figured out if there's a good idea on this. Red tape needs to be cut in the INS.

Flag burning: A stupid means of protest. I'd rather prosecute those people for some form of littering.

Hate crimes: A good idea in some instances, as long as it doesn't go too far and as long as it's fair.

Hate speech: We're not Canada. Words don't kill, people do.

Embryonic Stem Cell Research: Support it federally and state-wise.

Social Security: Keep it strong, don't allow privatization.

Workers' Rights: Yes, they should be able to strike and fairly negotiate with employers

Healthcare: Find ways to expand the scope and reduce the costs.

Education: Workable funding, with minimal waste

Foreign Policy

United Nations: A force for good when focused. Don't pull out.

Israel: I support their right to exist and I like them more than the Palestinean terrorist groups.

Hmm... I don't remember doing this, so I will now.

I am a social liberal. I support abortion rights (Although not publicly funded unless it poses a danger to the mother's life), I am pro-Gay marraige, and pro-stem cell research. I am pro-marijuana legalization, and pro-euthanasia. I am opposed to organized school prayer, and am pro-gun. I also believe in some form of National Health Care. I oppose the death penalty. However, I oppose affirmative action, and would like to see something more efficent take its place.

Economically, I am also Liberal. I believe strongly in the tariff, and the progressive income tax. I oppose tax breaks to large corporations, but support them for small businesses. I am generally pro-Labor, although there have been some exceptions (Namely in certain school strikes where the teachers make alot more than they're worth... In one school I remember that went out, the teachers made 100K a year and had a health plan). I strongly support a minimum wage raise.

On foreign policy, I consider myself moderate-liberal. I support increasing the millitary's budget, and oppose Star Wars as a waste. I oppose unilateral millitary action, and believe that the millitary should only be called to duty in cases of national defense or human rights. I opposed the war in Iraq, but supported the invasion of Afghanistan. I oppose the creation of a "Peace Department". I oppose Nuclear disarmament as impractical.

My views have evolved considerably. By now I'm basically a social liberal, fiscal conservative and a (pragmatic) internationalist.

Social Issues:

Abortion: Pro-choice. 1st and 2nd trimester abortions should be available on demand. 3rd trimester abortions should always be allowed for health/life saving reasons. If a women can not afford an abortion but needs one for health/life saving reasons, she should be provided with one by the government.

Gay Rights: Strongly support. Legalize Gay Marriage, Adoption, Open Military Service, etc.

Separation of Church and State: Strongly support. End "faith based initiatives," compulsory AA attendance, vouchers for religious schools (the Supreme Court was wrong), etc.

Affirmative Action: Oppose. The most qualified person should always get the job. With that said, I recognize there are still disparities. But those should be remedied by vigorous enforcement of anti-discrimination laws -- not government sanctioned discrimination.

Gun Control: I reluctantly support gun registration and licensing to screen out the mentally incompetent or criminal, but otherwise oppose gun control.

Death Penalty: Support for violent repeat offenders, and with regulations such as videotaping interrogations, witnesses, etc. for cases involving murder.

Censorship: Strongly oppose any censorship of the entertainment mediums. Let consumers make their own viewing or listening decisions. We don't need anymore moral guardians or government officials telling us what we can or can't see.

Flag burning: It's unconstitutional to ban it on the grounds of "offensiveness", although ordinances preventing it based on safety concerns might be OK.

Hate crimes: Oppose. It's redundant, just try them for assault/murder/etc. Everyone should be equal under the law, creating "special" crimes for minorities is hypocritical.

Hate speech: Support within reason. It's one thing to engage in defamation or encourage violence, it's another to just be prejudiced. The former are directly harmful, the latter isn't.

Smoking: I support public smoking bans. While people have every right to smoke, second-hand smoke is a health risk that no one has the "right" to expose others to.

Alcohol consumption: It should be legal to buy beer at 18, and the drinking age should be abolished. The current laws are unenforceable, inconsistent, and ultimately hostile to personal freedom.

Euthanasia: It should be legal. Who is the government to tell the terminally ill and suffering that they can not end their pain?

Drugs: I support the legalization of at least soft drugs, and the decriminalization of drugs in general. The current War on Drugs is an expensive, tyrannical failure just like Alcohol Prohibition was.

Gambling: It should be legal to gamble, but Casino development and the like should be left up to local areas.

Prostitution: It should be legalized immediately.

Embryonic Stem Cell Research: Strongly support. The opposition to this infuriates me. People, these aren't even fetuses, they're embryos. They're cells. Do you really care more about something that isn't even in the womb more than suffering Parkison's or Alzheimer's patients?

Immigration: We should increase funding to ICE, slap companies that hire illegal immigrants with stiff fines, and establish an Earned Citizenship policy that allows certain illegal immigrants to become citizens. I oppose Guest Worker Programs and Blanket Amnesty however.

Patriot Act: Oppose, at least in current form. Certain sections of it such as 215 are still too broad and undermine or flat out eliminate basic civil liberties such as protection from unwarranted searches and seizures, privacy, etc. People might feel safer, but ultimately if the government can break the highest law of the land in order to protect us, no one is safe.

Economic Issues

Taxes: Should be progressive and tied to spending (Pay-GO). Cut them if spending is cut, but raise them if spending is raised (better to do that then have inflation and huge tax hikes later).

Unions: They're holding a lot of this country back, such as the Rust Belt. In many respects, they have as negative of an influence in politics as Big Business. I support restricting the right to strike further and  reducing their power considerably. If possible, I'd flat out abolish private unions, although that would probably be unconstitutional.

Free trade: While I dislike the bureaucracy associated with NAFTA, WTO, etc. I firmly support Free Trade, and thus am willing to tolerate those if we have no other options. Free Trade means more markets for American Businesses, cheaper and more diverse goods for American Consumers, and increased peace and prosperity in the long term.

Spending: I believe in fiscal responsibility. Roll back pork spending both domestically and military wise. That means slashing subsidies, unnecessary military spending projects, etc. At least a third or more of the current government should be either cut or flat out abolished.

Social Security: Abolish Social Security as we know it. Only provide benefits for the poor and disabled. We did it for Welfare, why are we treating this as a sacred cow? Also, if we do keep it, make it illegal for congress to raid the trust fund.

Space Program: We should look into privatization. The near-monopoly NASA has had on space exploration has resulted in stagnation and little advancement. And Space Tourism or Space-Plane Manufacturing is a promising industry...

Welfare: Continue reform.  Welfare should focus on providing temporary child care and getting parents who are able to work back to work.

Health-care: I think we should implement Massachusetts-style Healthcare Reform nation-wide. Everyone within a certain income range should be covered by Medicare/Medicaid, the rest should be required to buy health insurance.

Education: We need to overhaul our whole approach. The Department of Education should be abolished, as it has done little if anything to improve education. The US should establish a "National Education Trust Fund" instead to ensure that the federal government meets its obligation to fully fund our educational priorities and to make sure that schools can meet high standards. Teacher's salaries should be raised and mass renovation of schools (with thorough audits to prevent waste) should begin.

Foreign Policy Issues:

Democracy and Trade: Don't link human rights to China. It isn't economically viable and we can't do anything about it. By the same token, end the embargo on Cuba. We could make more money and destabilize the Socialist government there if we just let American business into that country.

Anti (fill in the blank) Treaty: Strongly support disarmament of nuclear weapons and efforts to stop nuclear proliferation.

United Nations: It's corrupt and needs reform, but our participation is needed. The UN still provides many valuable programs that combat poverty, hunger, etc. world-wide and is still one of the best tools for diplomacy out there.

Afghanistan: Increase funding for the Afghani war and work to convert the Opium there into pharmaceutical drugs. That's both more realistic and more profitable for American business. The current attempts at stopping the heroin trade by burning Poppyfields isn't working.

Iraq: A disaster. Iraq was never a threat to anyone, there was no reason whatsoever to invade it. Furthermore, our presence in Iraq is just fueling the current insurgency further. The US should attempt to re-partition Iraq, then immediately leave.

Russia: Russia might be hostile to us now, but a lot of that is justifiable paranoia. We didn't help ourselves by invading Iraq pre-emptively or by continuing to threaten them with nuclear weapons and bases long after the Cold War ended. We need to engage them and take a carrot-stick approach, emphasizing that they can do whatever they want to get rid of their own Islamist/terrorist problem. A Russian-American alliance is achievable if we play our cards right.

Israel: Hezbollah and Hamas are both terrorist groups and hostile to the West, no doubt about it, but Israel's conduct in many respects has been almost equally bad (and it's creation was a mistake).  I'm really at a loss as to what we should do here. Each time we intervene, we tend to make things worse.
