Schatz is too socially liberal for me and I really do think Hanabusa seems legit. In genral I prefer Democrats who are (or seem) more populist whereas ones who focus on progressive 'social issues' are just another species of DINO. Bushie needs to have a spiritual awakening that brings his understanding of salvation closer to that of Catholicism, stat.

It should be remembered that it's of course a for the most part useless exercise to interpret colonialism or New Imperialism through a conventional left-right spectrum, as a proper application of Nietzsche's analysis in Beyond Good and Evil should demonstrate.

[It should also be remembered that I confess to actually having a pretty poor understanding of Wittgenstein. Now that you mention it I think it would probably be more fruitful to apply most versions of the Law of Identity to the Pillow Book of Sei Shōnagon than to anything else from that period. And addressing this at all is pretty much self-parody anyway, isn't it?]

There are Democrats I might consider voting for, but only with sufficiently business-friendly platforms and sufficiently good taste in menswear. Why won't Brian Schweitzer switch from bolos to bow ties, I ask of you?

Ugh, all these social liberals don't care about real leftist issues. I'm no radical, but we need to do more to advance economic leftists in this party, not just focus on liberal imaging.

Kucinich would beat Reagan had he run in 1984.

You do not know me very well.

I know now that Objectivism and Christianity are incompatible, but I still think that Rand gets a bad rap. Maybe it's possible to find some insights in anarcho-capitalism?

I read a delightful proto-feminist haiku (kanshi form, of course) which would have served well as a parody, but I don't particularly feel any desire to seek it out at the moment since, among other things, I have to attend meeting of a lesbian coven later tonight and I can't seem to find my robes.

Kanshi by definition cannot be haiku, and covens of any kind would be heretical at best.

Even so, I laughed.

Corporate entities deserve the same rights as anybody else. It's good to know hard work is still valued and success is still admired in this country.

I still believe in the power of the great social-democratic institutions of the progressive left to agitate for positive change. We've just been going through a lean time is all.

Richard Nixon would never have let this happen.
