No it wasn't, you'd know that if you were watching ESPN.

Good run US! Excited to see the development of some of these young guys between now and 2018. I too am hoping for Colombia-Belgium in the final. Would love to see a new nation win the Cup.

These constant extra times are getting annoying - they keep lowering my score in the tipping competition Tongue Also, this world cup seems to follow the bad precedent of the previous two in having significantly fewer goals in the knockout stage than in the group stage.

Belgium just got reminded the game isn't over yet.  They still have to play before they start relaxing.

I believe that for the first time since the current format was implemented, all 8 group winners have advanced to the QF.

Gosh darn...

Another solid performance in the World Cup by the US.

You mean by Tim Howard. The US didn't start to actually play until the last 10 minutes. Then it was actually pretty impressive, but too little too late.

Still a good tournament all in all for the US.

Shame Howard isn't 4 years younger, I'm interested in what Jurgen can build here for 2018 (if he stays and I hope he does).

Yeah. I was expecting 2 minutes and possibly more the way Belgium was dragging things out, but I suspect FIFA wanted to avoid the possibility of another shootout.

Credit to the U.S. for the fight back. It just wasn't enough.

To the US' credit they were defeated by a nice attacking team and one that really deserved to win (unlike some others I could name). But one wonders what would've happened if they had started playing earlier the way they were in the last 15 minutes.
