President Obama gives exit interview to 20-20

President Obama gave an exit interview to ABC last week, and it aired last night. Cynthia McFadden was responsible for the free-wheeling interview. Obama said he approved of Clinton's cabinet choices, and was surprised that hear that she had chosen Lindsey Graham as Secretary of  Defense. He also thanked her for naming his wife, Michelle, UN ambassador, saying that she would continue in the fine tradition of Elanor Roosevelt. Pressed on his greatest in-office regret, he mentioned not pushing harder for the public option when passing health care reform, and for failing to make needed reforms to structure of the NSA. Asked what his greatest triumphs as President were, Obama said that proving former rivals can work together in a governmental setting (in what appeared to a clear reference to President-Elect Clinton), and successfully ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Gershengorn clears first hurdle in becoming Supreme Court Justice

Ian Gershengorn has passed the first step in becoming Ruth Bader Ginsburg's replacement on the Supreme Court, as after three days of interviews and deliberations the Senate Judiciary Committee has approved his nomination by a 13-4 vote (Moore Capito, Barbour, Alexander, Risch voting with Democrats)(Rogers, DeMint, Sessions, Hatch voting against). Rogers will head to the full Senate which, despite former Majority/Minority Leader Harry Reid's defeat last year, and his use of the nuclear option for all nominees and spending bills in December 2015, is as partisan as ever. Both Majority Leader leader Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader Ted Cruz refused to say whether Reid's nuclear option remains in effect.

White House Counsel Ruemmeler resigns, cites Bill Clinton making multiple passes towards her

Hillary Clinton never thought that when she asked former White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler to return, that she would have to deal with another "Bill problem".  Ruemmler, in her resignation letter to Hillary and Chief of Staff Terry McAuliffe, said that Bill had made multiple advances towards her since Hillary's swearing in, including at one point showing up her office wearing nothing but a thong. Sources close to the President say she is in a towering temper.
