I believe birth control is healthy, moral, beneficial, and reduces the need for abortions.

Not under any circumstances whatsoever, it is in no way immoral in any way, shape or form.

I'm not sure why one would consider it immoral...

Ask the Pope. Probably because he's senile.

See, the Pope is physically ill, not mentally unstable. Let's check up on the facts before posting, ok?

I can't think of a better reason he considers birth control immoral.

You do have a hard time thinking. That's obvious.

Why do you care? That's a bad example. The Pope has done much more good than harm.

His stance on this is largely responsible for the AIDS problem in Africa and poverty there and South America.

The leaders of most powerful nations do not care what the Pope thinks.

The only people responsible for the spread of AIDS and poverty in Africa/South America are those that refuse to listen to either side (those that advocate abstinence or birth control).

It doesn't matter what the leaders think. The Catholic church attacking condoms is causing AIDS spreading and massive overpopulation. And for what reason? No one has yet to explain to me why birth control is wrong and why using condoms is worse than the situation in those countries.

What is the rationale for opposing the morning after pill?

Because the way it works is it sort of "aborts" a fertilized embryo.

It's unsafe because 1.4 of women who use it need medical intervention to stop the bleeding that can occur thanks to the pill.

And it may stop life after it has begun to form, not before it has a chance to form. There's a huge difference between this pill and a condom.

That's not the morning after pill, that Ru 486.

Ru 486 aborts a fertilized embryo by inducing the uteral lining to be expelled, and is effective up to 7 weeks after fertilization.

The Morning After Pill can only be used up to 72 hours after sex, and prevents fertilization of the egg.  The egg never fertilizes with the MAP.

The Pope says birth control is wrong because it artificially interferes with procreation. Sex under these circumstances is wrong. Morning after pill falls in this category.

The Catholic Church approves of Natrual Family Planning which involves monitoring a female's mentrual cycle and planning sexual activity to either increase or decrease the chances of pregnancy. There is no outside factors involved, hence the name "Natrual".

No, but the morning after pill is.
Anyways, I still don't see any Biblical basis for why contraception is immoral, and until they can show it to me, I won't.

I don't think birth control is immoral.

I understand the Catholic church's position on birth control, but can't really agree with it.

The Catholic church's position is well intended in its own way - that birth control leads effectively to the misuse of sex, and this has happened to a large degree due in some part to birth control.

But there are too many reasons to favor birth control.  Given the low rates of infant and child mortality today, the planet can't support the natural number of children that most people would have without birth control.

The lack of birth control would also lead people to have more children than they could effectively afford to raise, financially and emotionally.  While some big families follow the idealized version of "the Waltons," the reality for many inappropriately big families is much darker.  There is often a great deal of abuse, neglect and deprivation, both material and emotional, in families that are too large for the parents to handle.
