Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)/Former Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney (R-WY): 352 EVs, 50.7%
Vice President Al Gore (D-TN)/Senator Bob Graham (D-FL): 186 EVs, 46.3%

I was Gore. The election was close for the vast majority of the game, with the Rust Belt, Florida, parts of the Midwest, and the Pacific Northwest all being tossups, but then I commented on Bush's DUI and my support tanked.

I find it funny they allowed you to play as Nader in 2000 but not play as the other two candidates in 1860 both of whom won more electoral votes than Douglas .

1948:

Thomas Dewey (R-NY)/Harold Stassen (R-MN): 267 EV, 46.02%
Harry Truman (D-MO)/Alben Barkley (D-KY): 226 EV, 48.25%
Strom Thurmond (Dixiecrat): 38 EV, 2.63%
Henry Wallace (Progressive): 0 EV, 3.10%

Barely got the 266 EVs Dewey needed to win.

Got a Deadlocked 1948 playing as Dewey: https://www.americanhistoryusa.com/campaign-trail/game/750614

It lol though says this: This leaves everyone in a bad situation. Segregationists from the South are demanding concessions before they will support a candidate, leaving the House deadlocked. Perhaps you can work out a deal with Truman to circumvent this, based on who has the plurality of popular and electoral votes. It's always possible that one of you could serve as the other's Vice President

2000

Vice President Al Gore/Senator Bob Graham: 51,846,350, 48.5%, 275 EVs ✓
Governor George W. Bush/Halliburton CEO Dick Cheney: 52,047,533, 48.7%, 263 EVs
Ralph Nader/Winona LaDuke: 2,671,691, 2.5%
Others: 318,698, 0.3%

Bush wins popular vote, narrowly loses Oregon, which goes to recount. Gore wins Oregon and the electoral college.

Using the trick from page 34 (with a 10 multiplier instead of 1000) I managed to throw the 2000 election into the House playing as Ralph Nader. It was also an extremely close election, with less than 1 point separating Gore from Bush and less than 10 EVs separating Gore from winning outright (I guess I attacked Bush too much?)

The game does claim the house will simply elect Bush anyways. Oh well.

Fear, Loathing and Chowdah on the Campaign Trail '60

Sen. John F. Kennedy (D-MA)/Sen. Lyndon B. Johnson (D-TX): 259 EVs, 49.8%
VP. Richard M. Nixon (R-CA)/Amb. Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. (R-MA): 264 EVs, 49.6%
Sen. Harry F. Byrd (D-VA)/Sen. J. Strom Thurmond (D-SC): 14 EVs, 0.6%

Thanks to the general screwiness caused by the unpledged electors in the south, underperforming as JFK allowed the election to get thrown to the house. What fun! Interesting to think about what stunts LBJ could have pulled to extend his acting presidency by holding up the vote in the House.

As in IRL, plenty of states were decided by razor-thin margins, and I've indicated them with the 40% shade (aside from AR and LA which the unpledged electors ate into and I only won by plurality). Any one of them flipping would have decided the election.
