Aye on Duke's amendment, if that is what we are voting on.

No, it's not. We're voting on Spiral's amendment to make the maximum tax break 5% instead of 3% and have it last for 7 years instead of 5.

This is still the vote started by Matt on 58:70 by Spiral (below).  Only Matt or myself can end a vote and/or start a different one. An amendment vote ends after three days or when a majority votes for or against. Even then such has to be declared so by Matt or myself.

I don't see why you people keep getting confused on this save for just being too lazy to read carefully. Tongue

okay I'm not sure exactly what's going on here in terms of process.

In any case, if we have a flat credit of $1000, it means that all companies get the same tax benefit for providing a job. Using a percentage of the company's tax liability as thew current tax has it would mean that a large company would get much more tax benefit for providing a job than a smaller company would.

We could alternately make the credit a percentage of the total in salaries paid out for the new jobs - which may tend toward fewer new jobs but better paid than with a $1000/job credit. Would you be more amenable to that TNF?

I think Shua's amendment is the right way to go and I made a mistake in introducing my amendment the way it was worded.

I think TNF objected to shua's amendment, not mine. Although I am now admittedly lost. Tongue

That's my amendment, not shua's, but that's fine, vote for that, it's better than what we had. We can amend clause 3 later.
