Press conference in Denver, Colorado.

"Today, I announce that I won't run for a fourth term in the Midwest Althing.
I thank all the people that gave confidence to me, from the region and from outside the region.
This is a irrevocable decision. I took this decision because is time for a break and for reflect.
Also the scenario is evolving and I think that a break will do well.
I think that we have many potential and valid candidates for my office and I encourage them to run.

Thank you."

AN INTERVIEW WITH FORMER MIDWEST REPRESENTATIVE CRIS

Q - "Good Morning Mr. Cris. The first question is: Why you aren't running for Governor?"
R - "I'm not running for Governor because I think that isn't my time and because I have others projects in the mind."
Q - "What are these projects?"
R - "Initially, I considered a run for Archduke. I desire to be Archduke and I think that I have the right experience for this office. After a series of hesitations, because I'm not sure that I can vote in the election (even if I can find a way to vote), I am convinced to run, also because our region needs a competitive race."
Q - "But?"
R - "But.. we had a great candidate for Althing, Tmthforu94, that could provide a federalist presence in the Althing and a great contribute to the Althing debate, but after an idiot comment by TNF, he has decided to not run for Althing and he has changed region. At this point I'm considering a run for Althing to provide a federalist presence in the Althing."
Q - "Adam G. Fitgerald has announced a run for Archduke. What do you say to him?"
R - "Good luck for his campaign. I think that Adam will make a great job for our region, with the hope to have a competitive race in the future."

"Thank you! Thank you so much!
My fellow midwesterns, my fellow atlasians. I'm proud to announce my candidacy for the Midwest Althing.
I desire to retrace an early story. A few days ago, former Governor and President Tmthforu94 has announced a run for the Althing. A great decision to provide a federalist presence in the Althing and to make a great contribute to the activity of our region, that recently is not the best. But Senator TNF went against Tmthforu with serious affirmations that led Tmthforu to suspend his campaign and change region. Not satisfied with this, he exulted of this (with Senator Griffin). Is possible? In a period when our region needs more activity this is the better behavior? With his affirmations, TNF has prevented the candidacy of Tmthforu94 and a major contribute to our debate! Congratulations, Mr. Senator. Congratulations.
I'm running to put Midwest first. I'm running for avoid a total Labor control of the Althing and of all the Region Istitutions (Governor, Archduke, Althing and Regional Senator). At the moment, we have a declared candidate: Hashemite, an indipendent (that isn't of centre-right) and two potential candidates: Representative Sol and Representative Gass that probably will run for re-election. In a left region as Midwest it will be not simple, but I think and hope that we will make it!
God bless you, God bless the Midwest and God bless Atlasia! Thank you!"

I'm truly glad to see you running for Althing, Cris, and while I acknowledge things have gotten complicated in the Midwest, I trust you will be able to win and serve as efficiently as you have done in the past. Endorsed!

MIDWEST REPRESENTATIVE CRIS ON BICAMERALISM AMENDMENT

Thanks to all.
In my today speech, I desire to analize the Bicameral Birthing Amendment, approved by the Senate and that now is subjected to the regions vote.
First of all, I should say that I'm in favor of bicameralism. I think that bicameralism would make our politics, our elections most interesting. It is also true that this involves an increase of the number of office holders and this can be a problem with activity. The Senate should lose 4 members (from 10 to 6), but a new House should have 11 members, with a gain of 7 office holders.
The amendment approved by the Senate provides that the regions will become 3. Probably the Midwest would merged with another region, or our region would be broken between various regions, but this is necessary to have bicameralism. But I need to say that I'd be sorry without the Midwest Region. Duke say that this amendment does not consolidate the regions, but the way is clear.
However, I'm OK with the number of Senator and Representatives, 6 and 11.
On the method. The reform provides two classes for the Senate, with 3 seats elected by the regions for each class. So, 2 senators for each region. I'm OK with this.
The House shall be elected by 11 districts. I prefer an House elected at-large with open list with preferences, but I like also the districts. I have some doubts about hypotetical strategic changes of region and district, but this seems to be solved.
I'm undecided about my vote in the Referendum, but I can say that the mine won't be probably a Nay. Actually, I'm undecided between a Yes or an abstention. In the next days I will evaluate the fact and I will decide my vote.

I have a proposal that can allow to have 5 regions and bicameralism. I do not know if it is right present it now that the regions are voting on the amendment approved by the Senate.

Endorsed for Archduke!

If it means a bicameral federal legislature, I would definitely be open to talks over consolidation, but the best hopes for that happening diminished when the merge failed and me and Simfan certainly won't get along with each other on the same levels that Arturo and Cranberry did.

The way it's looking now though, with either the IDS/NE and likely the ME ready to reject it, the amendment will fail which means we can go back to our sole mission of making the MW strong again.

First of all, I desire to congratulate with my fellow federalists Lumine and JCL and with Polnut, Deus and Cynic for their election in the Senate.
Also I thank Governor Adam FitzGerald for my appointment as Midwest Archduke. As indicated by the Governor, I resigned as Most Serene Representative and sworn in as Archduke. When GAworth will swear as Representative, the Governor will open a thread with the votation on my confirmation as Archduke. First of the GAworth swearing and of a clear indication by the Althing that they accept my nomination, I prefer not chairing the Althing.
If I will be confirmed by the Althing, my rules will be the following:

1) There shall be a 2 max limit on the number of bills proposed at a time to the Althing for for their examination.

2) In the case of a tie in the Althing vote (such as 1 Aye, 1 Nay and 1 Abstain or 1 Aye and 1 Nay or 1 Aye and 1 Abstain or some combination of that), I will break the tie which will determine if the amendment or the bill passes.

3) Should a bill get a majority of votes (2/3) needed, I will send the bill to the Governor via his office. If the Governor decides to redraft the bill, I will work according to the Midwest Redraft Amendment.

4) On amendments to a bill, to avoid an occasion where a simple majority is not obtained, a 48 hour limit will be set on how long the amendment can be voted on.

5) On a final version of the bill, a 72 hour limit will be set on how long the bill can be voted on, should the Archduke choose to bring it to the floor for a final vote.

I desire to thank the Althing for their vote on my confirmation. In particular, I thank Representative GAworth for his vote and Representative Gass for his support. Instead I'm disappointed from the absence of Hashemite in the discussion and vote of the Althing on my confirmation.
I have opened the thread for the election of the new President Pro Tempore and I'm ready to chairing the Althing.

This is my Wiki Page.

That reminds me, I still need to update my Wiki page. Tongue

I'm glad to see the Althing approved of your nomination, but yeah, Hash's absence as of late is inexcusable. Hopefully we can get one or two new active Althing members very soon!

I love this job and I desire to continue to give the best of me to the region. Also I desire to express my felicity for a competitive race for the Althing and for the commitment of two new federalist candidates, that I hope to find in the Althing to work with me and the other representatives."
