As for NJ, the only question will be, will Christie break Kean's record?

That would be 70% ...

Nope.

But if the Christie result is BIG (2/3 or so), what are the chances that either the House or the Senate in NJ change parties ?

Or will DEM voters vote for Christie in high numbers, but vote to keep their DEM Senators and Reps. ?

What happened when Kean won the landslide ? Did Republicans back then also win one of the two chambers, or both ? Or None ?

What time do the polls close in each respective contest?

VA usually closes at 1am, NJ 2am and NY at 3am, my time.

Subtract 6 hours for local closing times.

Add 7 hours to Western Australia time.

Heavy turnout in Arlington

Arlington County’s voters are turning out in higher-than-expected numbers on this Election Day, reports county registrar Linda Lindberg.

“We are probably at 15 percent turnout at 10 a.m., and that’s just the precinct numbers,” said Lindberg. “Our absentee vote was 12 percent, which is about 50 percent higher than four years ago.”

If the turnout continues at this pace, Lindberg expects about half of the county’s 137,000 active registered voters to cast a ballot today — unusually high for an election with no presidential or senate race on the ballot.

At precincts along the central Glebe Road corridor, the turnout has surprised both voters and poll workers.

“We had 40 voters in the first 15 minutes we were open,” said Tyra Baker, precinct captain at Drew Recreational Center, where 329 of more than 2,000 registered voters cast ballots by 10 a.m. “This is extremely busy for a non-presidential year.”

Charles Head, a precinct captain at Thomas Jefferson Community Center, agreed that turnout was “surprisingly heavy.”

“It’s been a steady stream since we opened and it hasn’t stopped,” he said.

I always like when US newspapers write about "high turnout", when - in the end - only 50% of registered (which is not even all 18+ olds) voters turn out.

Time to check in for a post:

The results are about as expected, but T-Mac's victory was quite close. Closer than the polls said.

Interesting how low turnout was, especially in New York City - where just 20% voted.

What exactly does the VA election law say if there's an exact tie ?

Will the SBOE draw lots, will the candidates engage in an old-school duel like below ?

Or does the law not say what needs to be done in a scenario like this, because some side will rig the election anyway ?
