... apathy!

For illustration purposes only, let's say that every eligible non-voter in 2012 had actually cast a ballot for a single third party ticket, with all other results remaining the same.  This is how the 2012 map would have looked:

Obama 95     Romney 0     Third Party 442

The last time a presidential candidate won more votes than the total number of eligible non-voters was in 1904.

And if every single person who has not used perfume yesterday, would use sh**t for this purpose, sh**t would be by far the favorite perfume flavor in the whole wolrd. An equally interesting factoid it is.

Cool, way to be a dick for no reason.

To me, I view this type of information as (a) a sad state of affairs in an already sad political landscape, and (b) what might happen if voting was compulsory?  How would the this vast electorate vote if forced to do so?  Which parties would benefit the most?

Which party would it benefit? The Democrats, obviously. The Republicans are well aware that lower turn-out benefits them, hence all of their anti-voter laws.

The map supports that conclusion. While Obama still has a dozen wins, not even >70% Romney, >80% white Utah stays blue.

This presumes that people who don't use perfume want to smell of feces, an unlikely suggestion. On the other hand, proposing that people who don't vote for President are apathetic about politics is a much more reasonable scenario.
