Politically, it's state is terrible, but it's not an evil, malicious or unpleasant nation to live in by any means- Peter Hitchens described it as "efficient communism"

This is interesting, can you explain why? Is it just his "anti-imperialism"?

Lets see....Lukashenko uses violence to crush critics, takes hostages to get things he wants, rigs elections, regularly blames minorities for the problems he's created, has one of the least free press in the world, is anti-union, anti-gay, anti-Jew, anti-Pole, jails political opponents and then tortures them and thinks Germany was greatest when Hitler was in charge....but he's anti-west too so he's clearly a hero!

they've refused to sell the entire country to the highest bidder, unlike the rest of the post-Soviet world.

That's enough for you to excuse all the misery he causes?  What would he have to do to be an HP?

Arrest the minorities and gays and grind them down into a nice little powder to be used in making pizzas.

But if I know some people on here well enough, they would just claim that it's okay because they were really Zionist Capitalists.

HC, both for all the reasons listed above and the fact that it is the sole country in Europe that retains and exercises the death penalty.

Not sure how one can call Belarus a freedom country. Although curiously, I'd be somewhat interested in visiting it.

Well wouldn't Putin be a bigger FF by that metric, since he re-nationalized a lot of key industry and jailed/killed/exiled the responsible capitalists for privatization when possible?
