Huh. I think this going to be one of those races, where the outcome is probably clear, but we watch because it'll be incredibly close throughout. Shaheen is the right kind of Democrat to win in South Carolina, but Haley is also somewhat nationally known, so that would probably help her in a state that is as Republican as South Carolina. The question, of course, is whether or not the Republican brand gets so damaged that she is dramatically injured by it. If that is the case, Shaheen has a shot.

Unimpressive. Shaheen lost by 5 points in a Republican wave year, but trails by 4 points in a better climate for Democrats in a Democratic poll?

I guess that highlights SC's inelasticity.

Nikki Haley has gotten considerably more popular since last year.  She is going to win.

A poll conducted at the height of the showdown and Haley is still in the lead.  Unless Haley herself does something to turn the voters off, she'll win.
