Only if it was a truly loathsome ideology such as neo-Nazism or Stalinism.

Absolutely not. As long as that person isn't extremely passionate that they can be offensive to you and your views, then no.

Not unless they are a racist or a massive bigot.

My best friend is a Mormon who's never voted Democrat in his life.

Only if those views are awful.

Like I don't care about your tax policy. But if you're Pamela Gellar then yes.

Many of my friends here come from the other aide of the aisle.  Of course not.

This.  Also, not everyone who agrees with me most of the time would be a good friend.

Not unless they are a racist or a massive bigot.

That was pretty much my thought as well. I can look past almost every political disagreement. I couldn't look past racism or bigotry.

Who knows till the situation occurs, but so far, as I get older, I find friendship (dubious though it can be) is usually based more on style of humor than opinion.

No, and anybody who won't be your friend because of politics doesn't deserve to be your friend.  And it's more than just being a decent person, it's about diversity and challenging your beliefs.  A friendship where there are no differences of opinion, whether that be sports, politics, sexual preferences, favorite type of meat, etc etc would just be very fInksing boring.  Arguments and disagreements are what life is all about, and if you decide to lock someone out of your life because of political disagreements then all you are is a noob.  Unless of course, they decide they are pro-murder or some sh*t.

I've had some pretty strong disagreements with people on here, with me even calling some of you jackasses.  However, know that with the exception of a few sociopaths and POSes (none of them have posted in this thread) I actually like you guys.  Through our discussions I've found out a lot about you guys as well as myself.
Thank you Atlas Forum

Definitely not! Unless this person was a neo-Nazi, neo-Stalinist or something else really nasty.

Indeed, some of my really good friends would have G or D avatars if they posted here, and they're some of the best people I've ever met Smiley

Yes. A friendship with those types wouldn't last anyway in the company I associate with.

No. How you treat people is the important thing.  It can be hard being friends with people who would break up a friendship over political views because you have to be very careful what you say or what ideas you admit to. I've had ideas that some people would call racist or homophobic or sexist or fascist or whatever, just because for whatever reason they see those who disagree with them in those stark terms.  I'd be sad to lose a friend over that.

My grandfather was a Tea Party supporter and a staunch Republican til the day he passed.

I got along fine with him.

Everyone I know that ever mentions anything about politics is basically liberal so this isn't really an issue, but no (normal) unless they were racists or MRAs or something.

Non-issue. I never interact with conservatives anyway. I live in Minneapolis after all.

Not unless they were a neo-Nazi or something. Being rather leftist, I have plenty of friends I politically disagree with on Atlas and of course in real life (I do live in Lancaster)

Basically this.

Generally speaking as well people who vote Conservative tend to be much less interested in talking about politics anyway. At least in my country of origin.
