Grumps, thank you and it honestly means a lot to me that you'd offer your best wishes despite not entirely understanding the situation.

I don't think anyone truly understands another's situation, and I suspect you mostly agree.  As long as you're doing what you think is best for yourself and what will make you happy, you're on the right path.  We all should support each other's journey down that path.  Smiley

I understand if some of the more socon posters with whom I'm friendly aren't entirely comfortable with or accepting of this but I'd like to ask that they do the courtesy of not giving me grief over it. If anybody else gives me grief over it, I'll treat it as personal attack and use the report function accordingly.

Anyone who would do that clearly doesn't deserve your friendliness.

Anyway, I'd never thought I'd say this, but I think Grumps said it best than I ever could. I wish you best, my friend.

My blog got a new follower on Twitter. A member of the NPD executive committee and a district chairman. Sorry, time to shut down the blog now.

This is very sappy but meh;

I had a very snuggly day with Michael. In bed, snacks, crappy YouTube videos and kicking him with my leg if he took too much of the blanket. There was no effort but it was a superb.

You ate snacks in bed? Do you want ants? Because that's how you get ants.

If I hadn't seen a random flyer in the econ department, I would have never known this was happening.

So, you guys will recall that I used the situation with my cat to, um, "playfully accompany" what I thought was more important news, but it turns out that her health was much worse than we thought, and our family has made the decision to put her down. She's home now and I don't think we have a date yet, but it was kind of spelled out to us as the only solution. Sad

It's just very hard to deal with, because I have so many thoughts racing through my head that you tend to also get with a sick relative. The denial. "Does the vet actually know what he's doing?" "Are they only interested in making money?" "Are we sure there's no other option?" "Why not let her die naturally?" "Couldn't it just pass?"

It's a tough one. Euthanasia throws an interesting wrench into dealing with the emotional aspects of this. I mean, she's laying right here and "looks" fine...

And as silly as it sounds, contemplating the death of a pet who's been by my side for 12 years has made me think a little bit more about mortality in general. A bunch of swollen organs and fluids are going to do her in. It's scary to actually confront the fact that crude matter is the only thing holding us on to life.

Sad

Every year my school has an assembly where the Seniors take the pre-schoolers and play games with them. I was paired with the most adorable four year old girl who insisted that I carry her everywhere, which was quite hard as I am very awkward holding children (due to a baby having an accident in my arms while I held her). It was a fun day, none the less.

I've already told a few people this privately but I've hesitated to tell the forum at large. I'm finally going the distance and going through a gender-presentation transition. (I'd use a less queer-theory-ese term for this but as it turns out none are really accurate.)

I understand if some of the more socon posters with whom I'm friendly aren't entirely comfortable with or accepting of this but I'd like to ask that they do the courtesy of not giving me grief over it. If anybody else gives me grief over it, I'll treat it as personal attack and use the report function accordingly.

Welcome to the girls club! Hope this choice will bring relief and clarity to your life.

You are always using very abstract terms when describing your personal evolution on these matters and like others I am curious about what this actually entails.

First leg of the move back to PA is done.

Will probably stay D-NH because I've carved out a nice little niche. Plus I'm like one of two.

Pretty great first week of college.  My roommate and I are pretty much polar opposites (he’s a gangsta-type jock from some hood in Charleston, SC whereas I’m the quiet, spiritual type with pictures of Jesus all over my part of the dorm), but we get along great and trust each other, so I really can’t complain (even though I do get annoyed when I hear the n-word being used in every sentence when he has his buddies over).  I’m a lot friendlier with the two guys in the dorm next to ours.  Late last night we were all up and happened to run into each other in the hall and there was a punk-type girl sitting beside them.  She’s actually really sweet and religious (she identifies as Methodist) and we spoke for a while about religion and sexuality and gender identity and the whole nine yards.  I told her that the campus chaplain invited me and some folks to a service at a nearby church Sunday morning and that she should come along.

Also, I’m genderfluid.  I told my new pals that and they were cool with it.

Just finished my last coop internship (at the Public Health Agency) yesterday, getting treated to a nice lunch. Heading off to Niagara Falls for a short while next week.

Scott is "gender fluid"? What does that mean?

I suppose it is a perequisite to becoming a white heterosexual liberal Christian minister...
