Well, I had an interesting evening.  I thought I was going to go give someone who was a little down in the dumps an ear to chew on in the figurative sense.  It turned into an actual date with another one set for Wednesday.  I'm gabberflasted as I'd considered it as a possible outcome, but I honestly thought I was deluding myself.

I had a brake line go on my car, which is a rather common problem for me thanks to rusty old cars.
On the other hand I got some beer back that I left at someones house on Christmas and they still had for some reason. Smiley

I got my prom tux rented. It's a typical tuxedo (extra small, which shocked me a little bit even though I'm 6'2 and 125 pounds) with a silver vest. I wanted a plain black and white tuxedo, but the lady at Men's Warehouse and my mom were really pushing for it, and since my mom was paying for the rental, I felt obliged to go along with it. In hindsight I wish I got a dark blue vest. Also has a silver tie, which I'm not too fond of.

You've learned an important lesson today, Sanchez, a lesson that every man around your age learns for the first time: never allow women to have any input into your semi-formal attire.

I've said it many times. My worst day as a lawyer was better than my best day as a law student.

Great. Looks like this "prom" is at a hotel and might be pretty swanky. Great. Might be expected to follow a certain code of conduct or look particularly non-trashy. This'll be just fantastic.

Aren't all proms at hotels or convention centers? Where else would you have one?

My prom was at a country club too.

I skipped because I got Celtics playoff tickets.

I finally got a copy of my tax returns for AMEX. I have no idea how to read them, but I always have a net capital loss of over $30K every year and between $10-15K in capital gains. I'm not sure if that's how I factor in my tuition payments each year or what. But I'm pretty sure I'm going to lose my credit card with them unless they pay attention to my other assets or if I'm reading that wrong.

I wish I knew more about my own finances than I apparently do.

My grandfather has only an hour left and I don't know where else to go since nobody is answering me and I can't see him.

I don't know if it's a good idea to post it here but I have no place else to go to and my mom, who's with him right now, she can't even talk.

Oh my god this is horrible...
I wish you and your family my deepest condolences. It is a terrible situation right now, and it might not help at all, but maybe try to think of all the nice moments you shared with your grandfather. He surely would like to be remembered for that...

"To die, to sleep--no more--and by a sleep to say we end the heartache, and the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to. 'Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished."

“'Does it hurt?' The childish question had escaped Harry's lips before he could stop it. "Dying? Not at all," said Sirius. 'Quicker and easier than falling asleep.'"

If the need ever arises, you can talk to me - I doubt I'll be of that much help, but I can try my best.

I'm so sorry Flo. I lost both of my grandparents in about a year, and I know how rotten it feels. Feel free to PM me if you need to talk about anything.

That's terrible Flo. I had a terrible experience with my grandfather in 2009 when I was only 14 dying unexpectedly at his house without any of our family being able to say goodbye. I hope you can pull through this and deepest condolences!

And congrats windjammer! What's the occupation?
