We renamed the Wisard to Governor quite a few months ago.

Did you change the schedule as well? The calendar still has "October 10, 2013 - Midwest Wisard Ekstraordinar Elections" on it

Hi, Progressives! First of all, thanks to the PRO for considering endorsing me for IDS Legislature!
I have just one correction though, you guys have me on the ballot as a Federalist, when I'm actually a member of the Democratic-Republican party. So instead of "Small L (Fed-TX)", it should be "Small L (DR-TX)".

This isn't a big deal, but I want you guys to know who you're voting for (or against). I wouldn't want to gain votes under false pretenses from those of you who really love Federalists Wink

Anyways, carry on with your convention. I'm hoping Lumine wins the Presidency, so good luck!

sh**t sorry. i guess well add that to the list of problems with the vote. sorry im such a sucky chair guys

You're a great chair! You just made a mistake is all
Don't forget the Midwest thingy. And also I included write-ins, which doesn't make sense in score voting. We'll make an exception for Scott because he declared while we were still voting.

For President:
Lumine/Superique (9 7/8) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union.
DemPGH/sirnick (6 5/8), Duke/Matt (6 5/8), and Dr. Cynic/Adam Griffin (5 4/7) are not endorsed.

For Northeast Senate:
bore (8 12/35) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union for first preference.
Poirot (7 11/14) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union for second preference.
Goldwater (6 2/7) is not endorsed.

For Mideast Senate:
Talleyrand (9 1/7) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union.
Spiral (6 5/7) and JCL (3 2/3) are not endorsed.

For IDS Senate:
North Carolina Yankee (9 1/4) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union.

For Midwest Senate:
TNF (8 5/12) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union.
Rooney (4 9/10) is not endorsed.

For Pacific Senate:
Superique (9 599/600) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union for first preference.
Tyrion (8 1/3) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union for second preference.

For Northeast Assembly (5 seats):
butafly (9 3/4) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union for first preference.
Matt (9) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union for second preference.
Dr. Cynic (8 1/2) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union for third preference.
Goldwater (7 3/4) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union for fourth preference.
HockeyDude (7 2/3) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union for fifth preference. (although since he's been taken off the ballot I guess this is moot)

For Northeast Governor:
sirnick (8) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union.

For IDS Legislature (2 seats):
Scott (10*) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union for first preference.
Small L (7 2/3) receives the endorsement of the Progressive Union for second preference.

What about the Althing, Pacific Council, or Mideast Assembly?

Those aren't in the same timeframe as the Convention.

This is already covered by the section below. I don't see anything wrong with a 72-hour nomination period.

The problem with this is, well... say one person writes in "[10] Write-in: Dave Leip". The average score for Dave Leip would be 10 and he would be endorsed without input from anybody else.

I thought that the total was divided by the amount of voters, so that if Dave gets a ten then it would be divided by 7 (if seven people voted) would 1.4 I would say do that.
[/quote]
It's actually divided by the amount of voters giving that specific person a score.
ex.: in the last endorsement vote, Superique and you abstained on the endorsement of JCL. Thus he got a score of 3 2/3 (6+2+5+2+6+1 = 22; 22/6 = 3 2/3)
In the other system, it would be effectively impossible to abstain.

Score voting is not really great, I love preference voting much more.

The reason I proposed score voting at the foundation of our party is that with preferential voting you are forced to make as many endorsements as possible (and, for example, endorse every unopposed candidate) -- thus diluting the value of the party's endorsement.

aye on Am'ts 1 and 2, nay on the rest.

I'd like to suggest to whoever is the party chair to explain how score voting works whenever we hold a vote.  I think it confuses people and leads to less people voting.

This is a good idea.

*sigh* sorry guys. I knew I wouldn't have a lot of time this week, but I hadn't thought it would be quite this bad. (*grumble* stupid RNV *grumble*)

So I believe the 72 hour window of voting has closed for our amendments and all but amendment 5 passed.
Amendment 1: 8 Yeas, 0 Nos
Amendment 2: 7 Yeas, 1 No
Amendment 3: 7 yeas, 1 No
Amendment 4: 6 Yeas, 2 Nos
Amendment 5: 4 Yeas, 4 Nos a tie results in a defeat.
(Of course, this is unofficial, until our chair finalizes it.)

This is correct.
Our by-laws now read as follows:

The planks on Abortion and Game Reform have failed; LGBT Rights plank A has been adopted; the rest of the planks win easily.

There will now be a 72-hour nomination period for Chair and Vice-Chair.

Current candidates are GAworth (for Chair) and PJ (for Vice-Chair).

PJ, are you running for re-election as Vice-Chair?
