Haha yeah, these names are extremely LOL. It's near Braunau (not a surprise ) and not near Ried, so I assume it's in Braunau district as well, though I don't know where I could find this.

Yes, it's a part of Tarsdorf - which voted for the ÖVP.

Yes, it's not a muncipality of its own though, but part of Tarsdorf municipality in Branau district.

Looks like the FPÖ will end up near 30%, because I think Linz will have no more than 25% for them.

ÖVP-Greens currently not possible anymore (28 seats) vs. FPÖ/SPÖ (also 28 seats).

The Governor needs to be elected with a majority (29 seats) and a coalition would also be useless with a tied state parliament.

The district of Ried im Innkreis is now fully counted and the ÖVP beats the FPÖ by 31 votes:

36.47% ÖVP
36.39% FPÖ

With almost all precincts counted, the FPÖ-candidate for mayor defeats the SPÖ-candidate in the 2nd-largest city Wels by almost 20 points.

It was expected that the FPÖ would win the mayor there, but not by such a margin.

Where does the FPÖ tradition in the Innviertel come from? Are its origins in the Landbund, similarly to the Bavarian Peasants' League that had its strongholds on the other side of the Inn? Agrarian interests and soft anti-clericalism (as opposed to the Christian Socials)?

And yes, of course the Innviertel was Bavarian until 1779.

Both voted FPÖ this time.

The district is also the first so far which the FPÖ won.
