50.4% Mark Begich
38.5% Mead Treadwell

Begich is a Democrat and Treadwell is a Republican. Adam Hays is the Research Director for the Hays Research Group. In a prepared statement he claimed that Senator Begich is in a good position at this point in the race. However, Hays notes that Lieutenant Governor Treadwell has a good base of support. Hays stresses that the poll was paid for entirely by the Hays Research Group and the Group does not work for on behalf of any political candidate or campaign.

But, you shouldn't really trust ANY Alaska poll. They are notoriously bad ...

It will be interesting to see whether or not it's a pro-establishment touch in Alaska or a Pro-Republican one. It's interesting. That being said, any poll with decimals is questionable, so I doubt these results, but it seems like generally Begich is ahead at this time.

In their defense, they showed Murkowski winning by 5.

Seems pretty junky to me. Decimals don't help at all.

Why do decimals make a poll inaccurate?

Good firms typically don't use decimals.

OK. This is Alaska were talking about too, Begich + 4 sounds a lot more realistic than Begich + 12. We'll have to wait and see until the next poll.

The test is the 50 percent mark. We saw the samething in ME where each candidate was well under that and it showed a false Michaud lead. Like to see Landrieu and Begich now reaching it.

Precision in polling into decimals makes a mockery of the concept of "margin of error".

Not to even mention Treadwell's crazy low numbers. As much as I'd love this to happen I'm calling junk.
