"Don't mention Christ...I'd like to mention Christ was for Peace."

Which is it? Mention him for political gain or not?

Hillary's a political hack. We need an outsider. I'm gonna puke if I have to discuss Hillary for four to twelve years... no matter what she says about God. I couldn't care less.
I have nothing to gain politically by mentioning Christ was for peace. Since we were talking about religion, I just thought I'd throw that in there. I didn't mean to imply that people weren't sincere about their faith if they are for war. I apologize if I offended anybody.

Convince a fraction of the people in law school to go into computer engineering, and we might not be outsourcing CE jobs.

Citizen X can go into any Emergency Room and he/she will be treated.  They may be hounded  about insurance, but they will be treated.  It's the law!  Stop spouting the liberal mantra and read up on the facts.

The unemployment rate is 5.2%. Historically, this is quite low. I'd agree that there are a number of things that don't bode well for the future, but right now, America's in pretty good shape.

Making our environment so it isn't conducive to bad health, as it can be in large urban areas, shouldn't depend on the economy. The money is neither created or destroyed in this respect. Just a matter of where it goes. One manufactiuring company's environmental regulation is an alternative energy company's gain. If fewer people are buying asthma inhalers, they can buy more CDs or candy bars. Protecting air and water might hurt one company's hiring practices, but the money goes elsewhere.

This whole thread is getting wierd.

That's not going to happen because the economy isn't good enough so corporations can't afford to pay people the American minimum wage.  So the CE jobs will stay in India.

And speaking of relying on other countries for our backbone economy while simultaneously invading other equally poor ones, I say we outsource the military.  That way nobody worries about a draft!

Should citizen x go into debt for cancer treatment? Oh, by the way citizen x is my father. I don't need to read up on that, but I will ask my mother who works in an Emergency room at a hospital where the CEO gets a 200,000 dollar raise while my mother's sallary and benefit's keep getting cut back, what the standard procedure for treating their patients is.

I wasn't offended at all. Just seemed that, in a poltical debate forum, you were being a little hypocritical in making a point that political people shouldn't mention Christ, and then you scored a debate point by mentioning Christ. I should've let it go, but didn't. BTW, the Sermon on the Mount is the best!

The comment about the MRI was meant to show that people demand specialist when they don't need one, test when none are needed, antibiotics when they suffer from a viral infection rather than a bacterial one, and on, and on, and on.   Doctors are only too willing to oblige--hell they get paid for our hypochondria.

You can personalize the issue all you want.  I feel for you, your father and your family.  I don't know all the particulars of your father's situation, but did adequately insure himself.  Cancer insurance is available, expensive, but available.  I'm heavily insured, ad it is a priority of mine.  I do without many things that most people would take for granted so that my family and I are sufficiently covered for most likelihoods.

First of all, thank you for the comment about my father. I shouldn't have personalized it, but it just gets to me sometimes. I just believe that healthcare should be given to all of our people, maybe it's a little unrealistic, but that's what I believe.

Also, how did we get on the topic of healthcare and the economy on a thread about Hillary finding religion.

Because someone said (albeit through sarcasm) that Bush should be commended for destroying the environment, which supposedly strengthens our economy.

He sometimes changes his avatar to red- just for the hell of it, I guess, but I don't really know.

I agree that everyone should have access to healthcare also.  How we go about it is the sticking point.

I favor a more patchwork system than do you. Instead of univiersal healthcare ala the Socialist model, I favor Medical savings accounts for individuals, allowing small businesses to pool together to get the same insurance rates as large business, and various other means to achieve 100% coverage.

Once again, I'm very sorry to hear about your father's illness.

Hmmm...Perhaps he sufers from bi-polar disorder.

I really think from the comment he was saying that we have pulled ourselves out of recession by raping the environment--a ludicrous assertion.

Is Hillary getting religion?

I will answer that by saying that there isn't an ounce of sincerity in that woman's body.  She is a phony and a fraud from the word go, and will take whatever position she thinks she needs to take in order to obtain power.  This woman has an insatiable mania for power, and would do anything to get it.  She is truly frightful.
