New Chat Room!

After discussing some party related matters with Chairman GAworth, we decided to reactive our tradition of discussing party affairs in a chat room to increase debate and so our members can feel closer to every decision we make. After the recent events in Atlasia, I think there is a need for further communication within the party, and plans have to be made. I invite every Progressive to join the chat room when possible! (Hopefully we will be able to have a grand meeting tomorrow night, or something like that)

EDIT: Sorry, I made a small mistake. This is the actual link!

Should we go on?

After more than four months as a party, I feel we have finally reached the crossroads. The party that started as an attempt to form a third force opposed to a two party system has fought a very long battle, and we had our victories. We did very well in the Presidential Election, we have quite a few officeholders in the Pacific, and elected representatives in all regions of Atlasia. But we are now facing a situation that I would describe as dismal, without trying to be a drama queen. We always had a certain problem with credibility, and both major parties were certainly fast in taking advantage of that. “Fascists”, “Moderate Heroes”, among a few names. But we fought on, believing in our cause. Our party grew and grew, but we failed to win elections.

Now, with recent developments in the presidential level and the reactions to some of our moves, I’m beginning to question myself. We have no credibility left after the Napoleon affair, most of our voters have become zombies, our chances at the future look grim, and our ideas are not working. Most parties don’t have to worry about being respected, but a centrist party has to rely on respect from both sides to be successful, and it’s quite clear that as a party (not as individuals, as a party) we don’t enjoy any level of confidence from the rest of the nation.

I want our party to discuss these affairs, for I feel we need a change right now. Do we have a chance of bouncing back? Is it worth it? I feel we have to make a well thought and responsible choice on whether we consider that our party needs to dissolve. I don't want to sound so pessimistic, but I feel we can't just crash into the ground like the Liberal Party. Even the People’s Party dissolved while still powerful, and with the ongoing success in regional reform, our unifying issue is also disappearing. I respectfully ask Laborites, Federalists and other Atlasians not to intervene on this discussion, for this is a 100% Progressive matter.

That said, what do other members think about this? Should we continue? Should we dissolve?

I'd like to state for the record, that it might be best for the party to dissolve, as we're only a group of eight-ten who are active at all, and we can't continue in this trajectory where we lose elections. We do not attract any Federalist voters, because we are seen as a leftist party, and we do not attract any Laborite voters, because we're the moderate heroes who don't want to do anything.

There's no sustainable path left forward, and we are the new version of the Liberal party.

I am not having a potentially damaging conversation about our party in Public. We have who knows how many Chatzys the party can use. That is what I meant.

We do, but the party as a whole almost never enters, and we are reduced to a small group instead of a discussion involving the whole party.

Alright if we want to have this in the open.
1. Flo, don't use me as your excuse for not running, I did nothing but encourage your run.
2. How many times have we talked about our party being our worst enemy? Countless, but don't worry, it appears we are keeping the tradition going.
3. We were making progress, not much I admit, but we were making progress, but if everyone now doubts the party then call a vote for dissolution. I will be voting no.

An Apology:

This might be seen as "attention whoring", but I want to make a few comments about what happened a few days ago. As I was seeing the position of our party to be in trouble, and sensing that our challenges were to big to overcome, I panicked and then I tried to start this discussion about what should we do about our party. At the time, I sincerely believed in what I said, and I thought it was the best choice available. I still believe it was a good idea to open said discussion, for we managed to raise a few good points. Still, PJ and GAworth managed to convince me that although the challenges were big, it was worth to get out there and fight. They raised the point that our biggest enemies where nobody but ourselves, and they were right.

In the present address I formally apologize to Chairman GAworth for some of my actions and comments, and the same goes to any Progressive who might have felt that my comments where ill-natured or meant to give our party a heavy blow. With that said, I trust that now we can move ahead and resume our fight to get our Shadow Cabinet working, our party growing, and our team of candidates elected on January and February, to prove people once and for all that we can win competitive elections in this game of Atlasia.

I'm sorry as well to be so overtly dramatic, but to pretend nothing happened and not make a public mea culpa would be far worse than to admit mistakes.

Thank you very much.

Your fine Lumine.

My computer has a virus that is preventing Chatzys from working on it for some strange reason, so I promise I haven't been ignoring y'all in the chat rooms, I can't log in. If you wanna do a chatzy  let me know and I can borrow another computer to chat, but for a little while.

Thanks,
