It says that the apartment had a bunch of white extremist lit in his apartment. Apparently he was given the stuff by someone who he helped his mother take care of.

Let's face it radical Islamists and radical white nationalists share some things in common, notably holocaust denial, 911 trutherism, mistrust of US Government, belief in Israel/US conspiracies, etc.  So I think it isn't so much that he was a white supremacist, he was a conspiracy nut.
