How are you defining Liberal/Conservative? Is it a measure of politics or orthodoxy? (Plays a huge role as to where LDS & JW wind up Tongue)

I would define it as something of a mix, though it probably wouldn't be inappropriate to add a third axis, somehow...

Ok here's my rough guess. For the purposes of this exercise, I'll assume the positions of the hierarchies is what we are discussing. (Ex: Catholic laity & clergy disagree on contraception). A _______ indicates the centre of the axis. Also I threw in the Assemblies of Gods for the heck of it and removed LDS/JW because they're unorthodox beliefs screw up the 2-denominational plot* Tongue

Liberal/Conservative
Quaker
Epsicopal
UCC
Disciples
ELCA
American Baptist
______________
United Methodist
PCA
Southern Baptist
LCMS
Assemblies of God
WELS
Catholics

High/Low
Catholic
Episcopal
ELCA
WELS
LCMS
UCC
Disciples
________
United Methodist
PCA
American Baptist
Southern Baptist
Assemblies of God

I'm not too sure about the congregational churches, so I just guessed. Perhaps you could provide some information

*It's like how we put Foreign/Social policy on the same axis. It makes the test come out funny for people with opposite foreign policy and social views. I.e. Atlas thinks I'm socially centrist Tongue

I would put UCC above the Episcopal Church and ELCA above the Disciples of Christ, and possibly United Methodist a hair above the center of the axis, but other than that that looks good. I'm assuming this is theological liberalism/conservatism?

Also, you really would need a lot more axes for this to be all that useful. At the very least a z-axis for level and/or nature of political and civil-society involvement, if we're going to interpret the y-axis theologically rather than politically. There are also, of course, multiple very different kinds of theological conservatism whose differences can't always be expressed in terms of the level of churchmanship.
