This map took a very long time to make.

This is a cartogram of the US 2012 house election, just because I couldn't find one on the internet. I based it off the style of the Canadian cartogram maps made on the blog "Attaboy".

Obviously, since congressional districts aren't squares (except for Wyoming at large Tongue) this map distorts the US considerably, but I did my best to make sure every square was as close to it's actual location as possible.

One district is vacant (somewhere in Massachusetts I think) but it leans so far D that I just filled it in with blue on the map, as a foregone conclusion.

Feel free to use it to discuss the house election, it's easier to use than a regular map, because you can actually see the cities.

Feedback would be great. Smiley

Also, averaging out the current opinions of which house districts are most likely to flip, this is a map of the Democrat's current path of least resistance:

CA-31
CA-21
CA-10
NV-3
CO-6
NE-2
IL-13
IN-2
MI-1
MI-11
WV-2
FL-2
OH-14
NY-23
NY-19
NY-11
PA-8

With California-31 being the most likely to flip, the only one with an above 50% chance, and Michigan-11 being the least likely, all 3 predictions called it as "Likely R", or "R Favored".

An extremely tall order.

Interestingly, the only district that all three called as a "pure tossup" was Arizona-2, but that's currently held by the Democrats and so isn't on the list.

Wow, great job! Maybe you could make a map that highlights all of the seats that aren't solid/safe?

That's a good idea! While I'm at it I'll also add Alaska and Hawaii, because I forgot about them (sorry).

And here is the map:

Lots of toss-ups in the far southwest.

Just as a guide, every singly district on the map is currently held by the same party that it currently leans towards with only two exceptions:

CA-31 tilts Democrat, but is held by the Republicans.
AZ-2 is the only "true" toss-up right now (colored pure white). It is held by the Democrats.

Great job! This map really helps visualize where the competitive seats are.
