I think the text of my petition is ok - after all I merely used figures from the President and the GM. I don't really discern any personal attacks either, unless you think it's a personal attack to mention the "parasite" quote by Senator TNF ... Smiley

I must have been thinking of your claim that this was a "$150 trillion "wealth distribution" utopia" then. Ah well. Seems like fear-mongering is your strategy of choice. Smiley

That was a typo for which I apologized yesterday in a different thread. I'm not sure if it's relevant here but now that you've mentioned it I can repeat it for everyone to read: In a post in the "Mideast Budget 2013" thread I wrote $150 trillion instead of $1.5 trillion after having misread the real figure. Smiley

To get back to the real issue here, 12 signatures have been collected so far.

Look, I am more moderate on these fiscal issues, but I do support any movement that pushes for more fiscal responsibility in Atlasia. We should look into areas to cut in order to make some of these proposals work. I am certainly against any Guaranteed Income proposal that does not get rid of other forms of welfare.

The TNF quote is pretty disgusting and offensive...

Let us all take a moment to pity the poor millionaires I have offended with my accusations. Lord knows that they are constantly under attack in this society of ours. How dare someone speak so of the benighted 'job creators'! Roll Eyes
Calling the rich parasites is just as bad as the all the crap shoveled towards the working class. Sure the rich have it better off, and that isn't always fair, but to call them scum for being in a certain class is hypocritical.

Trying to score moderate hero points, PJ?
No, I thought the idea behind socialism was equality, not elevating one class above the other.

I don't even know where to begin with this post...

Yeah, $150 trillion would have been catchier. But what to do, we've got to work with what we have! Wink

I don't want any one to cut anyone's living funds, and am indeed progressive on certain fiscal issues, such as ensuring people always have necessary living funds paid for, great education, and quality healthcare, but let's at least be responsible and work together, to wisely budget our spending.

I encourage anyone who supports fiscal responsibility to vote for someone who has balanced every budget he has signed. Like me!

I strongly favor fiscal responsibility, and I don't think that Senator TNF's comments about wealthy Atlasians are helping, but we have to be pragmatic here.

I think the entire purpose of having a federal government is to intervene when needed, and the Pacific needs said help right now. Sure, we face a recession, and sure, the deficit will increase, but if we allow the entire region to suffer and face economic collapse then all our talk about defending the region and the fight against the NM-AM will become meaningless. Besides, all of these measures are only temporary and a recovered and healthy Pacific economy is far more useful than having a Pacific isolated and in chaos.

When it comes to the Guaranteed Basic Income, I don't see many reasonable arguments against it besides the ones that concern a deficit increase, and that can be discussed instead of dismissing the whole project and calling it reckless spending.

I think of myself as a man of the center-right, but in the name of pragmatism and the moral responsibility we have to help Atlasians and the regions, I don't think it's right to abort these programs without even discussing them, and despite the calls for moderation, I feel this petition might try to do just that.

Why is that everyone bitches about activity and the lack of involvement, but whenever someone does something to actually play the game and get others to do so as well, ITS JUST BARBARIC!!!

You try to do something different with the committees...its a distraction

Try to advocate for fiscal sanity and moderation....its an insult to the Labor Party and the coming of Sarah Palin to Atlasia. I must have read being a different OP from you guys, because it doesn't seem all that outragious, nor does it actually oppose the Stimulus Bill.

Get some less active people engaged...ITS THE ING ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE MAN!!!

Shouldn't we be trying to boost there activity by actually getting them interested in political discourse? We got one hundred or near one hundred players who are either semi-active or not active at all, hence why we have activity problems at such record population levels. If someone can get them posting and debating in public. GOOD GOOD, GO GET SOME MORE!!!

We need citizen advocacy and involvement more then anything else in this game right now, and so if I see something that has the chance of getting it, I think the proper response should be celebration not condemnation.

The government cannot be, and should not try to be, a guarantor of personal income.

To be fair, only 10 are office holders. All 8 signers of TNF's petition hold office.

I don't think that's relevant; all Atlasians are equal, and the main purpose of this petition is to give every Atlasian a chance to participate in political discourse. As Senator NCYankee stated, it is only positive if we try to find new ways to increase activity in the game. Smiley
