Is it someone like Liz Warner, Gillibrand, or McCaskill or is it someone we barely hear of?

Well hopefully we have a new star by 2022.

It's just crazy to predict who before then if Hillary runs (and wins and runs for re-election).

Maybe someone Hispanic or gay, or both.

I've got a feeling it may be someone like Mayor Julian Castro of San Antonio.  He's a young Latino and would do very well as the torch bearer for the Democrats.  Not to mention, he's the mayor of one of the largest cities in the country.  That can't hurt him.

He needs to become a Senator or Governor first.

Somebody new will probably come alone.

Obama didn't wasn't even on the radar before 2004.

It won't be hard for him to become a Senator, even in Texas.

Maybe there will be no star. Maybe we will just have a line up of mediocres while the GOP is in power. It's not like that hasn't happened before (see 1980's).

Yeah Obama lost in the Dem Primary to Bobby Rush in 2000 for a US House Seat. Worked out well for Obama that he lost that House Race.

Well without Hillary unless Howard Dean runs of course the Dems might have a mediocre field in '16. I don't think Schweitzer is running because I just talked to a couple on here and it seems like Schweitzer''s political career is over .The GOP does have a good field for the '16 race as you sort of highlighted in your post.
