On the future of the Midwest:

And here we are, facing the aftermath of one of the most interesting periods I faced in Atlasia, the month of October. I'm not going to lie, I have been quite unenthusiastic about the entire forum during this month (mostly due to graduating out of school and dealing with several interesting things in my real life), and as a result I have neglected several of my duties, for which I deeply apologize to the Region. That said, I think that Atlasia has been outright boring and disappointing for the past weeks, and things like what we saw yesterday in the Senate are not helping with the process. Which I why I'm announcing quite early that I'm not running for reelection in February, since I want to see what other things I could do here in Atlasia.

Now, going on with the Althing, elections are over now, and we finally had a competitive election! I sincerely congratulate our candidates for helping the Midwest with their efforts, and I gladly welcome Cris and Arturo Belano to the Althing. Now we have a Laborite, a Progressive and a Federalist, and it will be awesome to see their different points of view on the issues. I also congratulate GAworth on his reelection, he has being a truly great Representative.

But I also want to speak on the candidate who was defeated, our esteemed Representative Thomas D. He was a Representative before I even joined the Region back in June, and he has always been a great officeholder and a fantastic player, and he will be missed in the Althing. Same goes for ilikeverin, who decided not to run for reelection, a great legislator and the player who now pretty much embodies the history of this entire Region.

As time goes on things are bound to change, and this game has the strength of not being as predictable as some think it is. Anything can happen in Atlasia, and things will certainly change in the following months. Right now we have a new way of doing things here in the Midwest, with competitive elections, a strong economy, an efficient legislative body and the new Constitutional Amendments (thanks for passing them with only "aye" votes!) and while we are not the poster boy of the country, we know that we managed to overcome our challenges, and that is the best thing that you can find on this game.

Representatives, you may swear in now, and may your term be prosperous!

Thank you very much.

Lumine.

Thank you for your service to the Midwest. I hope you consider a run for the Senate or something else equally as good.

On the Fourth State of the Midwest:

Well, the next speech is up for all citizens here and in the rest of the country to see. Please stay tuned for further announcements on the future Lounge Thread, the potential newspaper and potential policy proposals!

Thank you for your service to the Midwest. I hope you consider a run for the Senate or something else equally as good.

Thanks! I'm certainly thinking about it...

On the At-Large Senate Election:

Well, the election comes before us and it looks like that the regional executives are endorsing! (As is the case for the esteemed King in the North) And I would like to offer my main endorsement to two candidates: Flo and Tmthforu. Flo is man a ability and activity, and he proved many positive qualities in the middle of the Senate seat scandal (abilities that some of us failed to show), and I trust him to be a great Senator. Tmthforu is one of our native sons, and one of the best Senators during this session. He has also ran a great campaign, and he proved that he is most definitely interesting in serving Atlasia to the best of his abilities.

For the remaining three seats, I don't want to endorse, given that the rest of candidates (with the possible exception of Sibboleth) would make great, serious and committed Senators. I know Shua and Talleyrand from my times in the Mideast, Goldwater has done good work in the Northeast, and while I haven't spoken much to Mr. X, I know he would make a terrific Senator. I wrote an Editorial for the Record Courier on the challenges of the next Senate, and the only thing I'll repeat is this:

Please, Atlasia, for the love of god, choose a good Senate! This is our chance for that!
