RFK sits out the 1968 Democratic primary. Nixon beats Humphrey and McGovern. Nixon resigns in disgrace - Ford steps in. Ford decides NOT to run for election in 1976.

Republicans nominate former California governor Ronald Reagan
Democrats nominate RFK

You choose the VPs. Who wins, and by what margin? Discuss with maps

Kennedy / Carter - 344
Reagan / Rockefeller - 194

How do the Republicans lose so much strength in the South-West (which was the bed-rock of 60's Sun Belt conservatism)? Voting patterns more closely mirroring today's? And if so, how does the GOP keep Oregon which was Ford's weakest Pacific Coast state?

I was born in 1989, and your critique is exactly why I'm always hesitant to do match ups from before '92! Oh well, I think Kennedy/Carter would've been a good ticket though. Smiley
