Even when I was a Christian I never believed my prayers were answered. Even when I was a boy, in the way in which boys think I guess, I always found it curious how my pet cat appeared more able to 'respond' to my internal thoughts and desires for comfort than god could.

It's not a question of belief (which I've discussed on other threads) so much as 'clearly God either didn't answer or answered by doing the opposite thing merely to spite me'. And whichever the answer is, if that's what I can expect I'm better off not praying at all, aren't I?

I'd be interested to hear. You already know what my response to claims of supernatural intervention in the natural order, for the benefit of the claimant will be and I make no apologies for that, but I am curious to know.

Even as a child when told how to do it and what type of thing to say, I never quite understood the point.  Sure, we all have an inner voice that we use to 'talk' to ourselves about whatever is on our minds, but using that same voice to talk to someone else in an overt and direct way?  That's just weird.

None of these options describe my experience. God reveals himself to me everywhere I go. That doesn't mean I need to have heard him speak to me or witnessed a supernatural act.

Has God revealed him/herself to you? Well yes - for all is one and this is God.  What good will praying do when God exists within and outside of time - it is all the same web. God is surely of an incomprehensibly grand scale - and your free will is an illusion. You think your prayers are as detectable as a drop in the ocean. We are not the only sentient "beings". Earth is a drop in the ocean. The milky way is a drop in the ocean. This multiverse is a drop in the ocean. It is all layers - best viewed mathematically. The spiral. The fibonacci sequence. This is closer to God than your prayers.
