I finally was going to ask my Homecoming date to-day at an Academic Decathalon meeting after school, only to find she was not present. Debating what to do now...

If your school's homecoming is anything like mine, don't bother.

Don't listen to Snowstalker's anti-sexuality advice. Go after her bro.

I don't know if GMB swings that way...

Maybe he doesn't, but he did say "she", and that's all I gotta work with.

Amazing how critical a missing comma can be.

Oh crap. Sorry about the, Mung Beans. Go after he, bro. My mind inserted the comma for me and I'd been feeling like I'd been overusing commas recently. Apologies all around.

My ride's going to arrive at my house at some point and we're gonna get ready to party it up at/before Kid Cudi.

I worked as a polling assistant today and earned around $100. My municipality pays each polling assistant at least $33/hour, which is quite generous.

You're really having troubles, aren't you?  "Go after her bro"... "go after he, bro".

I'm rethinking doing my food shopping Sunday mornings.   Aside from the fat sows at the food sampling stations people literally stink. Does no one shower on Sunday morning before going out?  Ugh.

Would that be the same as an Elections Inspector* here in the States?

*Caps added by me out of respect for the office I formerly held and hope to do so again someday.

Having been out late last night, I can guess why they wouldn't shower, though I myself wouldn't contemplate going shopping for food smelling like crap. I had the work ethic to shower at like 3 AM before I went to bed, so I was good for the morning.

Well, all I had to do was sit at a long table with about 15 other people, check whether the votes which had been sent by mail had a signature and sort the votes; the "yes" votes on one pile, the "no" votes on the other. I didn't have any contact with actual voters, though.

I got turned down for a job that I really wanted in Singapore about two weeks ago.  But I am getting offered a one-year position at a university in Canada next year that will allow me to take a leave of absence in Illinois.  So, I guess from May, 2014 to August of 2015, I'll be at least temporarily replacing my Illinois avatar with a Nova Scotia one, so long as that doesn't offend the good folks on the forum from Canada.  Smiley

I'm still at my house and have work on campus at five. My ride has a bunch of errands to run today and hopefully he gets to my place by four.

Went to Kid Cudi yesterday. Had a pretty good time though I've my grievances regarding Mr. Mescudi's performance. I'll have to type the entire narrative out for mass distribution someday.

I sprained a muscle (ligament) in my foot, and it swelled (not only the foot, but half way up the leg to my knee, some docs thought it infected, some not, and two antibiotic regimes later, and still issues, and surgery in the offing

Good lord, great argument against exercise!

I was about trying a bit too hard to get just the right angle, thus leaving my foot vulnerable to too much weight unexpectedly shifting on to it.

Made my college plans. I am going to a state college in Tallahassee for two years before transfering into FSU. Goal is to get my foot wet in the world of Florida GOP intraparty politics. The first two years at the state college will be at a campus adjacent to FSU, so I am not missing out on the entire "college experience."

Went with my sister to my mother's church on the anniversary of my mother's passing away yesterday.  She wanted to go visit the grave and as it is the fourth Sunday, I needed to visit an alternate church anyway. (The church does not have a graveyard, but my parents are buried in that town.  The saddest part of the trip was unexpected.  We signed the visitor's book in the lobby and we happened to be the first to do so in over two years.  Granted, the town hasn't been a hotbed of economic growth (which is one reason mom's house is slow to sell) but still, you'd think they'd have more visitors than that.

This weekend was "freshman families weekend", aka where the school invites the parents over to assuage their fears that we've all OD'd on heroin or something. Not to be stereotypical, but it was a great reminder of why I'm extremely glad to be away from home.

Then today been feeling crappy because I'm down with a cold. Ofc when I say "I'm down with a cold" I mean "everyone here is down with a cold". Communal living situations ftw. So that means all I've done today is go to class with a bunch of other people coughing and sneezing and lay in bed mentally ughhhh-ing. in hs and community college i would always just skip school whenever I felt even minorly sick (i had *horrible* attendance but made up for it by always doing well on tests and stuff) but in college I'm trying to be a little more serious so I have no experience with this kinda sh!t.

Frickin' shame man. Sorry to hear it. You can now rest easy knowing that she's obviously a poor decision maker--having rejected you--and be comfortable with the fact that you wouldn't want to be with a poor decision maker anyway.
