Tonight was awful. I had grilled salmon and a cucumber tomato salad.....get ready....WITH FRENCH DRESSING.  My Fitness Pal puts that at 3000 calories.  Sad

No brief relaxations to report.

What is this "el toro" bit about btw?

That was Grumps's name back when he was doing porn in the 80s. I'm surprised you haven't seen it, seems right up your alley.

I wish I could believe that is true, but thanks anyway. No, if it is not gay porn (I assume it is not), then no, it's not up my alley.  But if it's well done and artistic, kudos to Grumps, as seen through the lens of yourself at least, be it the jive frame or otherwise. This particular iteration of Grumps (he seems to have something of a portfolio of iterations), made the planet a bit better for some folks, and that's what it is all about.

Well, he needed some quick cash to pay off the"help out a friend", and the money for men is all in gay scenes, so...

Apparently the managing partner at this firm's nickname is "the devil."

He seemed nice to me...

Nice knowing you, Dukey.  Once you're "in", they never let you leave.

When I was an exchange student at Tübingen University in Germany back in the mid-'90's, there was an administrator in the international office whose name was, you guessed it, Herr Teufel--Mr. Devil.  It's actually not such an unusual German name.  But we students used to make jokes about him..."Today I have an appointment with the Devil."  "I got great advice from the Devil today."  "The Devil told me I should stay in Germany another year and see if I can expand my opportunities." and of course "The Devil really helped me out today."

There is a cloudless blue sky above me in Halifax this morning, temperature 18C.  I'm going to finish my morning communications, run a few errands, go down the harbor, sit outside and enjoy a few drinks, and in the evening pack and prepare to leave tomorrow for my three-week trip to East Asia.

Well I was able to go kayaking. While wading against some rapids, I'm pretty sure my cell phone got water logged. Later, when taking off my beater, my sunglasses--which were hooked on the front--fell into the water and I lost them forever. Second pair recently. Tongue Later, while pushing myself under a bridge that had about three feet of space between the water and the ceiling, I fought the current and ended up capsizing of sorts. Had to drain out the kayak on shore.

Today, I'd be going to a baseball game with a similar group of people if it weren't for, again, fascism which has proceeded to block me at every turn. Had to fight tooth and nail to go kayaking for God's sake and I can't get in a car with some friends to see a damned baseball game. This is, of course, regardless of the fact that in a few months I'll be in college and no reasonable person can expect to know who I'm in a car with at any given moment.

I eked out a coop internship for the fall by the first round, a huge weight and stress factor came off my shoulders. Extremely relieved, I can now focus on my classes again without needing to have another round of horrible interviews (I had 13 interviews in about 2 weeks, 4 were interested in me but none of them had ranked me as their top choice). I'll be working at Fisheries and Oceans Canada (I will personally kill the next person who makes the obvious "you're going to be a fisherman?" joke).

Today, my supervisor told me to leave at 4:15 because it "is going to rain and you should get out while you can." I imagine something dark is about to happen here.

I'm going to be in Shelburne Falls for the weekend looking at the house my family will be moving into after we return from Japan in August, then spending a few days in Amherst and Northampton to vote in the Senate election, among other things, before going to New Jersey to a little while to help my parents prepare to move.

Good luck, Duke. Stay safe.

where did you go kayaking at? I've been kayaking several times mostly down the Huron river west of Ann Arbor. It's a nice river a little shallow at points doesn't really have rapids except right at the end part. I have never flipped over though. Sucks you phone got wet, my friend has a special plastic waterproof case/bag for stuff that we put our phones and stuff in.

I was "laid off" fired today. I knew it was going to happen when they brought in a new guy-we are already 110% overstaffed, so why make it 120%. I get my paycheck Wednessday, and afterwards I am going to see Bob Dylan.

The good news is that 7-11 called today (two months later) about my job application.

No, neither the Funeral Home nor 7-11 called, so I was at Miami Subs.

Thanks, I have a feeling it will, though I might have been a bit too confident on the phone with the 7-11 woman.

How long were you working there? Seems like a quite short length of time.

Just went to Sunday church service for the first time in seventeen years.  I got the chance to meet with the pastor and he's a very nice man, but sadly he's retiring after this week.

Never have I been to a church where the pastor shouts "Let's party" and dances around the room at the end of a service. Tongue
