Well driving through Oklahoma you do see a lot of Indian casinos. And sadness. Mostly sadness.

I have never seen the Casinos devoid of cars at all.  It always looks packed, except for maybe 9 or 10 in the morning which is not gambling time.

I don't believe that story.  You updated about the forum about your headache practically every hour to 90 minutes, yet you didn't mention something we'd been harping on you for?  That's not like you.

Be honest (and keep in mind that a few days ago, you were claiming that you didn't have a problem with compulsive lying).  Are you telling the 100% truth right now (and that means no dishonest omissions)?  If not, then that's a pretty sad problem, because you'd then be lying about lying, which would really say something about the condition you're really in.

So... if you're lying, just admit it now, because that story really doesn't fit with your usual habits.

No, the story is 100% accurate.  Yes, I did have a headache, but I still was able to talk to them.  The chat only took 15 minutes.  I didn't mention it on here at the time, because I wanted to let it soak in for a few days first.  I was about to post it this evening, until you asked about it.

In that case, your parents are either really careless about their money or really naive about you.  If I found out I let my kids have money because they "needed" it, and then they blew it on whatever useless stuff, they'd be paying me back instantly and never getting money again.

They just have a different approach to this type of thing.

A different approach to being defrauded by their son multiple times?  Yes, clearly they have a different, atypical approach to dealing with you and your issues.  I'm guessing that their "different approach" is part of the reason that your problems have progressed to be as severe as they are.

I'm not really sure how you can defend them (other from a selfish viewpoint), because you have not learned any lesson here, so what's to stop you from going back to porn on their dime in another 2 months?

I can't defend them, really.

What's to stop me from going back? I don't know, maybe focus on a new goal.

In case you haven't noticed, Inks, I've moved on to a different subject, something that is much more worthwhile and that would be very good for me, I believe.

Ahh yes... the focus is once again on you.  The better thing would be to stop focusing on what would be "very good" for you and pay attention to how your actions affect other people.  You may have moved on to a new topic, but you haven't changed any of your base habits, and those are what are the major problems.  Sure, you may not be defrauding your parents for porn anymore, but it's only a matter of time before you defraud them for some other purpose.  It's a pattern we've seen before.

Well, this is the Update thread.  I created the Update thread to be an update about my life.  I provide updates as to what's going on.  Discussion is fine and welcome, but griping that I'm updating rather than discussing is rather bizarre considering the purpose of this thread.

You know very well that's not what I meant.  I didn't mean you shouldn't update about your life.  But did you ever think to do things in your life that would repay your parents for all that they've done for you?

Out of the Doctor.  He gave me a referral to the Indian Dietician and Wellness Center.  One of the perks of being an Indian I just found out is a free gym, free athletic trainer, free Dietician!!

You're not an Indian.  And once again, you're defrauding people who actually need these resources, based on a technicality.  The fact that you're excited about it is pretty sickening.

You're right, I am mostly white and the Indian Medicine is not based on me.  It is based on my Indian Heritage and that my heritage is really fairly recent, only 5 generations removed from full blood.  That's only what 100-125 years?  When you're talking about the history of civilization, one century is a drop in the bucket.  Why shouldn't I be able to benefit from my family heritage?  Isn't that what an inheritance is?

And I was eligible for food stamps in college.  But I didn't take it, because I didn't actually need it, and I wanted to allow truly needy people to take advantage of the program.

History and Political Science are real academic fields (I have no idea what a "philanthropy" degree is...). They're not at all comparable to a degree in ecommerce.

Still, E-Commerce was a legitimate degree offered by a legitimate university, and it took 6 years of hard work to get it!

And the football players who major in Communications work hard for their degrees (I watched a kid struggle and still fail Introductions to Interpretive Reading), but it doesn't mean they have a real degree.  Sure, they have a piece of paper that says "Bachelor of Arts", but it really doesn't mean anything.

I don't disagree that it hasn't done me any good, but it doesn't mean it can't work for me in the future.  The NWOSU web page that was linked here a few pages back has about 30-40 different careers that an E-Commerce degree can be used for.  It's far from a useless degree.

NWOSU would hardly be doing a good promotion job if they didn't list 40 careers.  It doesn't mean that people actually typically do anything with that degree.

Everyone here needs to get over the whole Indian healthcare thing. What is he supposed to do? Refuse free health coverage? That'd be pretty idiotic considering his financial situation.

He could afford health coverage if he used his money in a rational way.

Nonsense.  Food stamps are not a 'set amount' in the sense that if you take yours someone else will miss out.

I have asked them if I should repay them.  Their response was that repayment to them would not come monetarily, but it would come by making something of my life, following my dreams, and basically getting out from under their nickel.

Exactly.  If I were to pay for all my medicine myself, I would be paying at least $500 per month, not to mention copays and lab work, etc.  Do you want me to rob my parents of more money by making them pay for my healthcare, too?

Why can't Bushie apply for welfare and live off a welfare check for the rest of his life? At this point it's probably too late for him to 'do something with his life'.

BaconKing's GIFs are the best part of this thread.

Also, can we discuss how it took SIX YEARS to get a degree in ECOMMERCE? What's up with that, Bushie?

It's kind of funny, I graduated high school on May 21, 2001.  9 days later I moved into the Dormitory at NWOSU.  I started my first class on June 4, 2001.  I went both Summers 2001 and 2002, as well as fall and spring through May 2003.  I took a break in Summer 2003, then worked through Summer 2004.  I thought I had finished my degree in December 2004 and I even walked across the stage.  However, thanks to a horrible oversight, I got to looking at my transcript and I was still lacking one or two classes.  I should have stayed Spring 2005 and I would have gotten it done in the traditional 4 years.  So, in Spring 2005, I took a class at a JuCo down here in Oklahoma City and went to UCO in Fall 2005, but failed that class due to laziness and just not understanding the class at all.  I took a break in Spring 2006, before I went back to Alva in Fall 2006 and finished it up, finally in Spring 2007.

Because he lives in a terrible country - he can't get any welfare, other than 3 months of food stamps.  Certainly nothing he could live upon.  His choices are living with/upon his parents, or a painful and ignominious demise under a bridge.

No such thing as "welfare" in the US, just Social Security for olds and the extremely disabled.

You know when you start to think about just how bad is the Bad Place (and Oklahoma being one of its worst parts), you have to give Bushie credit for being unfailingly polite and decent.  Really given the pressures of such a horrific society one would think he'd go off on a murderous spree.  But, he doesn't, he sits quietly and waits.

Well, who can say?  I'd no doubt get in trouble if I expressed a preference.

I'm talking about over the years.  At some point, some of his money was actually his.
