bushie's diet and exercise plan were casualties of the tornado, i see.

He had a plan?  Perhaps a pipe dream, but hardly a plan.  A plan is something you intend on executing.  The tornado is an excuse, sadly. Sad

How is it an excuse?  What was I supposed to do, walk 30 minute in large hail with the tornado sirens going off? Or walk in rain with lightning?  I don't exactly feel like being fried!!

Walk in the morning, before the rain.  Like I suggested.

I know you could have.  Because you were posting on the forum, and I told you that you had time to go walk, yet you kept posting.

Bushie have you thought about walking to you fast food/buffet restaurants instead of driving?  I'm guessing they are all about 1-2 miles away.

That's a strange guess.  I would guess them to be between 5 and 25 miles away for most trailer-dwellers in Oklahoma, particularly those with a home not in a 'trailer park' but freestanding on their own land.

Where I grew up the nearest chain fast food/buffet restaurants were 10-20 miles away.  Things are just terribly arranged in the Midwest.

Maybe.  Albuquerque is pretty spread out like OKC and I'm pretty sure there's a restaurant within 2 miles of where I am at all times.

There's a Braum's and McDonalds 2.5 miles away.  I can walk 1.5 miles, but I'm not up to 5 miles round trip, yet...  I've got a ways to go for that!

Ugh. I guess he will lose weight with decreased volume, but his diet is still horrendous.

Yeah, eating junk food for dinner is not a proper diet.

I know it's not a proper diet, but tonight I was just looking for speed, as I had 30 minutes before I had to leave.

Ugh. Nevermind then. 3 hot dogs?

I mean, for a while you may lose weigh if you're eating less calories, but you won't get to the promise land doing that. One day you will have to learn to eat vegetables and even, gasp, salad!

I wasn't even 80%.  I may have been approaching 70%.

That's because you're just eating crap. You aren't going to fill full on hot dogs and mustard, but it's a good about of calories and none of them have any health benefits at all.

You need some fiber to feel full. Seriously, fiber. You'll poop better too.

It doesn't sound like anything will be changing post-dietician visit.

He posted about the dietician visit a page back but it was lost in the putting children to bed discussion:

What's up, folks!  I'm home from the Dietitian Appointment.  She gave me a lot of good things to start doing.  Of all the things she gave me, she said the best thing to do is change my habits one or two at a time.  She said its not good to run to the fridge and throw everything out as the burn out potential greatly increases.  The first things I'm going to start with is eating breakast, plus a lighter snack at lunch, and a medium size dinner and increase my water intake.  She likes that I am trying to get in the habit of walking, but she says don't overdo it right away.  She says aim for 20-30 minutes 4 times a week to start and then I can work up to whatever goal I have.  She says my body needs time to adjust to a different routine.  She also likes the idea that I'm trying to reduce regular pop.  I am going back to see her on June 12.

Honestly she doesn't sound like a very good dietician. She likes the idea that he's trying to reduce his soda intake?! Just tell him to stop drinking non-diet soda, jesus christ it's not that hard, both taste like fizzy syrup water.

Or she realizes that he's only going to her because it's free, and if she pushes him too hard, he won't do anything.

She likely realizes that he really doesn't want to be her patient, and he's just going because he's "tried" everything else.

Yeah. I mean, how is it that hard to switch to diet? We've been talking about it for like 2 years and he's still drinking regular soda. Sure, it doesn't taste exactly like regular, but its close enough. He could lose 15 pounds simply by cutting out all that needless sugar but he has absolutely no self discipline.

Also, she recommends light lunches and big dinners? That's the opposite of what I usually do. Bigger lunches give you more time to burn off what you eat. But I do agree protein in the morning is a good thing. Just don't eat tons of fatty foods like sausage and bacon, which we know he'll do.
