CNN is reporting that the letter was addressed to Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS).

Very strange.

Wicker? That's odd. The timing is suspicious, but why would a bomber in Boston try and kill a Senator from Mississippi?

I have no clue.  You'd think they'd either send one to one of MA's senators, Harry Reid, or someone else with similar powers.

Maybe it's an attack on the right? Or maybe it's a copycat incident?

Has this been linked with the bomb attack at all? It could just be a coincidence.

He voted to end the filibuster on the gun bill last week.

Not again... we never knew for sure who was behind the Anthrax in 2001

Eh, I thought they did?  A guy who worked at a defense lab who was afraid biowarfare was going to get overlooked was afraid he was going to lose his job (and had actually set the plan in motion a lot earlier than 2001).  Then again, my memory isn't perfect....

If no one takes credit is it really act of terror. The whole point of using terrorism is to push your political agenda by targeting civilians. But if you don't take credit then how will people know about your cause?

At least in the old days, al Qaeda never publicly claimed credit for their attacks.  They just tried to sow chaos, made public announcements about their ideology, and left it up to law enforcement to connect the dots.

One of the three fatalities was a Boston University grad student from China:

Still, Wicker can't be said to be a proeminent senator. If someone asked to guess which Senator received a poisoned letter, I would name most senators before him.

By that definition, the NSU wasn't a terrorist group either.

There's no reason to believe that this is directly related to the Boston attack as of now. I just hope authorities everywhere will be ready for some potential weirdness on 4/19 and 4/20.

Maybe Austrian Neo-Nazis are the terrorists ?

Well, not really, but "derstandard.at" notes that the same bomb types using pressure cookers were used by Austrian Neo-Nazis in the early 80s to attack Simon Wiesenthal (the Nazi-hunter) and other high-ranking Jewish officials.

This piece is also interesting:

Does the US have any experience with the so-called Rasterfahndung ?

(article says that pressure cookers with "6L" on it are produced by a Spanish company, of which only 50000 are sold each year in the US).

Now, it must be checked who sells these in the Boston area and if they have video material about those who bought them ...
