I'll admit might first thought was not middle east terrorists... but a domestic right wing nut job looking for attention on tax day.

But until we know more, political motivations shouldn't be tossed around lightly.

And the picture linked to above is important for people to see.  THAT is what happens when people detonate bombs.  Your body isn't cleanly cut... it tears and rips.  Anybody who decries such graphic images being shown deserves to be punched in the throat so he can't talk until he gets the f**k over himself.

Just FWIW: The last mile  of the marathon was dedicated to the victims of the Newtown school massacre. Some Newtown parents/family members were reportedly seated in the VIP section and may have been caught in the explosion.

Thank you for not posting that directly.

The wounds seem to be low.  That could be an indication that the bomb was placed low (or had something that focused the force low).

I really, really, really hope that is not true Sad. I hope children who survived Newtown were not present. I think most would of left by the time the bomb exploded, as the first runner came through two hours earlier IIRC.

The news is making the important point that I expect we will find many or most of the victims were visitors from around the country and the world... Because the marathon is such an event with a perimeter, I never would have had opportunity to be close to the finish line. This is shocking for the heart of Boston but the tragedy will not be local.
