Frodo, I see the AR GOP expanding their majority in the AR House of Representatives and maybe the AR State Senate.

Obama really ed up the Arkansas Democrats big time in 2012: they lost both chambers of the General Assembly because he's really, deeply HATED down there.

I mean, Arkansas has yet to elect an African American or Latino to a US House seat or statewide office either.

Beebe has endorsed Ross as expected. He could be a real asset - last TB poll in February pegged Beebe's approval at 68/19, with even 57% of Pubs approving of his job performance. Especially since Ross is billing himself as Beebe's third term.

Speaking of TB, they'll be in the field next month with a new poll. Here's an article on the downballot musical chairs created by Cotton's Senate run.

I have the feeling that the Arkansas elections in 2014 will be really interesting Grin

Darr's office being audited ? OUCH.

Has he bailed on his US House bid or will he seek reelection as LG ?

He bailed on the House bid a couple of weeks ago, hasn't clarified his political plans. At this rate he probably leaves politics.

I think Arkansas should consider giving the LG more influence and powers (like here in TX) and make the Governor a figure-head.

Hutchinson raises only $390k, less than Burkhalter. Ross raised $1.1 million with 2.4 COH.

This hasn't been updated in eons, but Darr has settled with the Ethics Commission over breaking 11 campaign finance laws related to expense abuse. Beebe is demanding his resignation but he's refusing and I doubt the Pub Leg impeaches. Criminal charges are being weighed.

The AR delegation wants him out but Hutchinson thinks it should wait till criminal charges are filed.

I'm sure Hutchinson is already finding a way to blow this.

The House Dems are interested in impeaching Darr, but Pub leadership wants to see whether criminal charges are filed in the next few weeks before they move. If they do move, the votes are there to convict and remove.

How embarrassing .

Darr could have been a rising star in Arkansas politics, but he wasted it all.

Ross' first ad is an endorsement from Beebe.

I haven't heard anything, but if he cares about the party, he will announce his resignation.  But given his arrogance, he might say he has done nothing and will fight the charges.

Darr is presenting himself as a victim, passing his violations off as clerical errors or things which he fixed (after the media spotlighted them). So the Leg will have to get him out the hard way, though I'm not optimistic that they do.

I hope Darr tarnishes the entire party the Dems should keep him in office and have him be a headache for the Rs until 2014.

House majority leader says Darr impeachment is "inevitable", though the Senate Pubs haven't shown any interest yet. For now it seems Beebe wants to wait till the regular session starts... why not call a special and get this over with.

Darr will resign effective Feb. 1... still an asshole, should've quit immediately.
