I hope she runs for Governor rather than Senate. Schatz seems like a decent guy.
If she runs for either, is there any info on who could be her successor in the House?

I'm sure Ed Case would like to be back in office.

Or Mufi Hanneman could try for Congress one more time.

That's a shame, considering I'm enjoying Schatz's term so far. Plus it would ruin Hawaii's streak of every senator either retiring or dying in office.
On the other hand, I greatly dislike Abercrombie and Linda Lingle showed that Hawaii is willing to elect Republican governors.

This doesn't really surprise me, as Schatz has been active on climate issues, but the LCV
has endorsed him.

Schatz
pulled in $ 1.1 million this quarter.
Pretty good.

It's going to be really awkward if Schatz primary challenges the guy who appointed him to the Senate.

He'll try to stay in the Senate no doubt; I just posted that here because this was the only thread with Hawaii stuff.

Hanabusa
only raked in
$230K last quarter. Not especially impressive by any means.

Hanabusa isn't a very intelligent woman. She isn't even House material. I hope Schatz can hang on. Fundraising looks solid.

Raised $230k for what? She's not even running for anything yet and she already raised $230k? Give me that money, I'm not running for anything either.

Schatz is much more preferable to Hanabusa. Somebody who is young and progressive is what we need.

It's not about her personally as much as it is about the ethics of her claim to the seat and what Inouye chose to do in his final days. You don't get to will your senate seat in this country, no matter who you are. It's not a title of nobility!

It sounds like Napoleon's criticism is more directed at Hanabusa herself

But Hanabusa isn't claiming the seat
now
, she's considering running to take office in the future. If she did run and win, her claim to the seat would be based on the result of an election, not Inouye's will.
Schatz can't say he's entitled to avoid a challenge or hold the seat just because the governor picked him.

Have you heard her speak? It's embarrassing
She can't even hold her own against a troll like Bill O'Reilly.
Schatz is a great Senator and there is no reason to primary him. Abercrombie deserves to keep his seat, frankly, for not appointing Hanabusa. That's a good enough reason. Hanabusa didn't deserve to be appointed, just like Caroline Kennedy didn't. I don't understand the hype at all.

Still have to wonder why Ambercrombie didn't remove the most obvious and overwhelming obstacle to his reelection by appointing her to Inouye's seat.
