I found myself even more interested in the Conclave than I actually expected. I'm an agnostic, but I am realizing that, through my family and my nationality, I remain somewhat tied to the Catholic Church and hope it embraces a better direction.

Football, certainly. What's there to say about the papal conclave? Someone was elected, and that's it.

The NFL is a false usurper merely warming the seat for the once and future king of American sports: baseball. Plus I'm a Catholic, so what do you think my answer will be?

The NFL rule change where RBs can't lower their helmet anymore is a much bigger controversy than this pope nonsense.

Yeah, right now it looks like the Bengals are gonna run away with the division.

If the Brownies get a QB that can play, watch out.  They might puncture 8-8

Speaking of the Eagles, it looks like the 49ers are going to sign Nnamdi Asomugha. I would have been thrilled by this two years ago.

The Ravens doing the same thing makes me feel a little better.

Consider yourselves lucky, at least you know not to be let down. He'll easily go down as the single biggest Eagles bust I've ever heard of. Good luck with him, he gave up a QB rating of over 120 last year.

I don't much care for either sports or the internal dealings of organized religions. The coverage of the papal election was more intriguing to me though because I'm aware of there being a very large number of Catholics in non-European countries and was really hoping for a Latin American leader to ascend for a change which, delightfully enough, actually happened!

Free agency, I'm not Catholic but I did at least watch when they unveiled the new pope.
