Probably a much closer election, with Taft preforming poorly in union heavy states which would turn out strong against him.

Taft/Nixon 270
Stevenson/Sparkman 261

This is about right, except I would expect Florida, Illinois, and possibly Ohio to give it's electoral votes to Stevenson.

Stevenson wins the election by taking New York, but Taft narrowly gets the popular vote.

Stevenson / Sparkman  49.5%  293
Taft / Knowland            49.9%  238

I meant to say Michigan would vote for Stevenson. Ohio would clearly go to Taft.

This seems about right, but I think with Taft, Stevenson could carry his homestate. Unions would turn out heavily to defeat Taft as much as they could. I think that would tip IL.

I think Taft would win by a closer margin, but given the fact that Republicans barely won Congress with Ike at the top of the ticket, I'm guessing they wouldn't do so in this scenario.
