By that I mean someone who's too old to run for president now, how well or badly would they have done running for president?

Pat Leahy 1984 1988 or 2000
Max Baucus 1988 1992 2000 or 2004
Carl Levin 1988 or 1992
Thad Cochran 1988 or 2000
Chuck Grassley 1988 1996
Jay Rockefeller 1992 2000
Barbara Mikulski 2000
Harry Reid 2000

Max Baucus would have been crushed in 1988. He probably would've won, or at least come close in 92. 2000, 2004 he probably loses.
Carl Levin same deal.
Leahy probably loses all those elections.
Cochran probably loses in the primary.
Grassley could've won in 88, but not 96
Rockefeller again probably doesn't make it past primary. especially not in 92.
Mikulski probably wins in 00
Reid might as well, but less likely.

They'd all be terrible national candidates and probably not even make it out of the primaries.

Baucus and maybe Rockefeller would have the best chance, which still wouldn't be much.

Harry Reid could really not be a better candidate than Gore, could he?
