But there have been many other independent politicians who seem to maintain a much higher level of popularity. Maybe he's just not selling himself very well.

This is actually a massive improvement from where I've heard he's at. I thought he was at, like, the 15% or 16% approval for the longest time.

As I understand, the guy's just not an executive. Gina Raimondo's far better at projecting authority. If Jack Reed had been ten or fifteen years older, Chafee should have waited it out and ran for Senate again in '14. Now he pretty much blew his numbers on an ineffective Governorship. Too bad. If he's up to it, he should get a cabinet job or something.
