Oh the humanity!
I remember back when I used to drive a taxicab - the odors of the poor ladies who were our daytime customer base were just astounding. Enough to drive you from the car whilst they were fully clothed. They seemed to try to cover it up with some strange powders - the smell of the powders was nearly as bad - or as bad mixed with - the original fishy odor.
To my mind, that, rather than the grubby Dorito-smell of the poor child - is the true smell of poverty.
By contrst, poor farmers (what few still exist) here, living 'traditional' lifestyles', smell quite healthy - they just smell like earth and sweat.
