We'll define "major" as say, oh getting at least 5% of the vote and able to get at least a double digit number of seats in their respective country's legislature.

I'll have to go with either Golden Dawn or one of those really awful Israeli parties.

There is so much sh*t in this world, it's impossible to sort. XA is horrible, but I'm sure that, especially looking at underdeveloped countries, you can find as bad or even worse.

On the ACTUAL major party front, outside of the "newly sprung up anti-immigration far-right party" group, The People of Freedom. It wouldn't be that bad if it didn't actually win MULTIPLE elections. Somehow. The day when Monti's people are the new face of Italian right can't come soon enough.

Are we not counting parties that win >99% in fraudulent elections? If not, then how was nobody suggested the Workers' Party of Korea?

I think we're supposed to assume that this only includes legitimately democratic elections.

Perhaps it would be one in a country that only barely qualifies as a democracy. Maybe some Indian party.

Golden Dawn basically openly supports vigilante mobs and lynching immigrants; which is much worse than basically any major Israeli party, even JH or Otzma LeYisrael.

I'm pretty sure Golden Dawn is the objectively correct answer. They're actually and openly national socialists.

Obviously the GOP is the worst major party in the world, and the Democratic Party is the second.  You fellows need to remember - it is the US that runs the world and causes most of the damage and suffering.

Sinn Fein are objectively NOT the worst party in the world.

Sinn Fein is pretty bad, but Golden Dawn, Jobbik, the PVV, and the FPO are all worse. Also, how is Sinn Fein objectively any worse than the DUP? There's also the BNP, but it probably doesn't qualify as a "major" party.

None of the Indian parties are great, but none of them are as bad as the European Far-Right parties.

Parties the Worker's Party of Korea or the Syrian Ba'ath party don't count because there's basically no way they can lose "elections."

Though speaking of which, are there any unreformed Stalinist parties that hold seats won in free and fair elections?

Might I add that I'm only considering parties in democratic systems. Add Orban's party to my list.

I see some folks are trying to get themselves into the Comedy Goldmine.

Too widen the field a little, how about...
Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party (Syria)
People's Front for Democracy and Justice
Democratic Party (Turkmenistan)
Zanu PF (redeemed slightly by their hilarious twitter account)

I'm confused. How could a party with "Democratic" in its name be anything but good?

It is "democratic" only in name.

The BJP is pretty f'in bad. If only they would stand strong on fiscally conservative issues, but they don't, thus they are useless and really in the running for the worst party in the world.

I can't think of any major party in the developed world that is worse than the U.S. Republican Party.

Your definition of "major party" is kind of weird, but under that criteria I'd say Jobbik or XA, but neither of those are really major parties, IMO, since they don't have a reasonable chance of winning a national election.

The GOP has some pretty vile elements and has been on a long downward spiral for some time, but how is it worse than actual fascist parties like Jobbik and Golden Dawn?

Are these major parties?  Do they hold power?  Do they affect policy-making at the highest levels?  And besides, until you mentioned them, I never heard of them.

Both parties are major according to topicstarter's definition.
