No.   Though as a moderate (as opposed to radical) Republican, he would have probably been called one at the time.

Lincoln was for expanding the size and power of the federal government because, at the time, it needed to be expanded in order to ensure liberty.  Today, it needs to be decreased in order to ensure liberty.

See Angus's explanation of Nationalism being the key trait of Republicans then and now.

Yes, he would be challenging a recount in Ohio as one would not be necessary.  I'm not sure why Barbara Boxer would be there though Tongue

It's kind of silly to apply today's standards for Republicanism to a Republican who lived 140 years ago.  If Abraham Lincoln was a Republican today, would he be a RINO?  Maybe.  Was Abraham Lincoln a RINO 140 years ago?  No.

He'd probably be with Barbara Boxer challenging the recount in Ohio.

Philip: how can you say the first republican president was a republican in name only. The republican party was established based on a platform promoting personal liberty (this also included modern republican things such as no gun control) and moderate economic liberalism. In a strange way, all of today's republicans are RINOs.
