If we put up a pro-choice, Hollywood nominee in Kentucky we are just asking for a loss.

Money aside I doubt she'd even be a decent decoy.

No one else is interested in running, most statewide officeholders have declined and nobody else of note is stepping up to the plate, so even without Judd in the race, it's not like Democrats are in good shape as far as this race goes.

If we have to put in a sacrificial lamb here (i.e. someone who cannot win but could be a decoy), I suggest Daniel Mongiardo.

Judd's a disaster in the making.

Mongiardo is a vile piece of sh**t loser who lives in his parents' basement. Bah, I shouldn't be so nice to him.

The most cleverly disguised sock account. I would have never imagined Holmes is actually Senator Bunning!

Apparently she will start exploratory moves next month. If true, Cheesy

She won't win, but I'd love to have her running.

If she won't win, there's no reason for her to run.

That's the same thing they said about North Dakota's new elected Senator Heidi Heitkamp, that she couldn't win.  She ran in a deep red state and won. It's all about your message

Heitkamp was a veteran of many races and had met a large number of her voters. Judd is a dilettante.

Thank you for your commitment to defeat McConnell, Ms. Judd. We in the Republican Party greatly appreciate it, and wish you the best of luck at securing the Democratic nomination.

I agree. If McConnell wins, he'll be Minority leader for another term more. And with republicans like him, democrats can make good ads for 2016 Smiley

Heitkamp was a veteran of many races and had met a large number of her voters. Judd is a dilettante.
Heitkamp was a moderate Democrat who was a very popular AG in her state and ran on local issues. She was able to keep this race local, and by not nationalizing it, she won.
Judd is a Hollywood Liberal who is pro-choice and pro-Obama. It doesn't matter how much money she raises. McConnell will easily be able to tie her to the Obama Administration who, if you haven't yet noticed, is deeply unpopular in Kentucky.

Basically, the Dems have a problem here that Arkansas Republicans had with Pryor (well until Cotton decided to consider a run). Mitch McConnell is beatable by a few candidates, but those few candidates don't want to run.

So instead we're considering nominating a pro-Obama liberal to try and take on a strong incumbent in a state that doesn't like the Obama administration. What could go wrong?

Polling so far shows Judd barely losing to McConnell though, so she might have a chance, especially since she'll have a lot of her own money to play with in this race. If she's willing to tone down a few of her stances, she might have a shot.

If we nominate Judd, we deserve to lose. It wouldn't even be TRYING to win, we would actively be seeking to lose and would endanger down-ballot races and the rest of the statewide party. Running Ashley Judd in Kentucky would be the equivalent of Republicans running Ted Nugent in Hawaii and expecting his "celebrity status" and outside money to carry him to the finish line...
