Why would they chose Paul Ryan? He won't be the 2016 nominee.

Because he was just on a national ticket and therefore has solid name recognition ?

Other GOP candidate besides maybe Christie, Santorum or Huckabee wouldn't make much sense.
I would say Bush, Christie, and Rubio all have a better shot at winning the nomination.
