As just about everybody knows (thanks to his recount bulls*t), my former Congressman Allen West lost his bid for reelection in the 18th district to Patrick Murphy, a local businessman and moderate to conservative Democrat. However, West got a good deal, if not a majority of his money from Indian  River, a highly conservative Republican county bordering St. Lucie county.

Indian River County, as well as the city of Melbourne, is part of Florida’s 8th district, and currently is represented by Bill Posey, a backbencher who has made some birther type comments in the past, but is generally a non Tea Party conservative Republican who makes little if any waves.

Allen West very well may move north and either primary Posey (rather unlikely), or force Posey to retire (and get some plush corporate/government appointment), allowing West reentry to Congress in a favorable district where the big boys have money to blow, and where the base is strongly pro West.  Is this likely, or is West finished for good? I have seen no indication that West plans on running in FL-8, but it is still rather early.

Allen West seems just crazy enough to primary someone. Hell, why not Scott?
